Case in point... go to 2:24 in...  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1kMmgC9EvQ
(headwind into the finish line too).

Also, front third entire race or you're burning through your matches.
One year I did the 3/4 race as my 3rd race of the day and got popped off the back because I was trying to tailgun that race, and that turn 1 and 2 accordion-ed the field a ton, and the accelerations every lap really hurt.
Reg'd for 5 and 4/5
You signed up for this yet @JamesShaw:p
@EduardSpektor Alas I'm in Montreal for the weekend. Looks great though.
What's the roll call looking like for this? Thinking about doing the 4/5, 4, and 3/4. I see Whitey and Max signed up for some events, how are folks getting up there?
Jeff and I would have been able to take one other, but some A-hole tore our roof rack off of our car with a crow bar last week. :(
Need to get on the start line again so up for Sunday.

Anyone have a spare spot or fancies sharing a hire car?
FYI the subway isn't [EDIT: IS NOT SO HOT BECAUSE SERVICE ONLY OPERATING ON 6 TO PELHAM STOP THIS WEEKEND, ADDS + 2 MILES, THANKS MAX) the worst option to get to this race — 4/5/6 train https://goo.gl/maps/1BBq4sQf4Lu

Then a good 15 minute warm-up ride from subway to the Orchard Beach: https://goo.gl/maps/s7f74Sh4NCq
I'm racing 5 and 4/5. I was planning on taking the subway from Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. I see that the 6 trains are not running between Parkchester and Pelham Bay Park from 3:30am Saturday through 10pm Sunday. So the warm-up ride would be a little longer: 4.7 miles (or 26 minutes, according to Google Maps).
Good to know. Another option would be to take metro north to Pelham and ride from there. It's about 4.5 miles as well, but would be faster and predictable time wise.

Did you find a ride? I am considering renting a zip car, specially if I can share the cost.
Else, I'll race Prospect Park and be done early.
(Alice, Max and/or anyone else, obvs)

Ooh I'd definitely be up for that.

What time are you thinking? My race is at 8am so just need to be there before then that's all.

Was thinking I would race at 10am or at 11:30am, but perhaps the 8:30am could work for me.

We would need to leave 6am ish in order for you to make the race, get your number, warm up and then win.

Registration was extended to tomorrow. Will decide by tonight if I'm going, and let you know.
DO IT!  We need you guys!
@eloy if you need to borrow a bike rack, I have a Saris Bones rack that holds 3 bikes available.
My weekend is unsettled.  Depending on weather up by New Paltz, I may racing the "championship" race or not.

On short courses like this, I used to find the high number of laps unsettling.  Focus on positioning and going through turns fast.  Once you get the course dialed, the laps will go by quickly.
Good luck everyone!

Ok, I'm signed up and have a zip car in reserve. Let me know if you are still interested.

jill WON.

Sweet!
Awesome!!
no wait, then she raced the 3/4 and won again solo from the gun, not even kidding. AMAZING.
Erased
WOOOOOHOOOOOO!
Today:

4/5 race. Finished like a bonehead. Led for the wrong 2.5 of the last 3 laps. Gassed and sat up for the sprint.

4 race. Stayed at the front, thought I threw my bike to get the guy next to me, wound up 5th.

3/4 race. Got caught up and went down about 10 laps in on the turn before the start. A bit banged up and the elbow is nice and swollen but the doc said nothing is broken after looking at the pictures so I should be all good in a few days.

Props to Jill for well... killing.

And a special thanks to Niall for the limo service home and to City MD.

All in all a good day considering it could have been much worse.

Oh and most importantly I think the bike is just fine. I may need a new derailleur hanger but she's in one piece.
Glad to hear you're ok.  Congrats on 5th, well earned.  Good skill can be followed by bad luck.  Heal up.
Thanks Bruce. Appreciate you sticking around.
