It's hard to know even where to start.
I never understood what RnR was trying to get at. The name didn't resonate, the vibe came across to me as exclusive & grim, their riding clothing designs meh, and their t-shirt/sweatpants venture absurd (their "uniform tee" is $85)--Rapha had at least developed their aesthetic and following before selling $40 GilDan t-shirts with Rapha's logo (though I thought people buying them was odd).
When RnR was a clothing boutique they were at least bringing exclusive-seeming, super-expensive Euro gear to a place where people have the money and want to one-up Rapha. But as a brand...

I tried to order some MAAP gloves from them a long while ago
thinking the were in the store , after 3 days they finally got back to me , essentially telling me that they just order from maap and then ship to you

Lol. I saw that article. Working in computer vision/lidar industry myself now and I can say cones over sensors are the tip of the iceberg. I think it's the "wow" factor for venture capitalists. It seems to me that the idea of throwing money into something pitched as "transformative" is a greater ego boost than something that is merely an improvement.Lol. I saw that article. When my father-in-law was beginning his descent into dementia, his driving was deteriorating, but he wanted to drive and lived in a place where driving was definitely a plus. I looked into what kinds of sensors you could buy and install into a standard car to assist with driving; it was pretty impressive. He still shouldn't have been driving at all, and I'm glad he only had one small crash that did little other than damage his own car.
My my concern with "decision assist" is that it might not net out safer driving. I see this problem with rear-mounted cameras that turn on when reversing. The driver looks at the camera and doesn't see the cars/peds/bikes approaching from the sides, which he would have seen if he had been glancing over his shoulder and scanning.

On the margins, of course there will be cases of people abdicating their responsibility, but I suspect overall thinks like backup cameras, radar alarms for backing up, lane changing, etc are net positive. I cannot imagine anyone thinks twice about the seatbelt not fastened alarm, or that it might *reduce* seatbelt wearing. Ditto for door/hood/trunk ajar. Many new cars now also have an alarm for when you are following too close for the speed you are traveling.

Also agree with this 110% Nothing gets fomo foaming at the mouth like the idea of 100x returns. Evidence is that the "automation" race has begun in the most difficult possible environments - big cities. I guess it sucks, one surprising bit, that opposed to the world cups the finish of the short track is not used to grid the cross country race.
Otherwise, starting 30 something is obviously better than 90 something, but still doesn't sound like a monster advantage. While I understand what's a stake for MVdP, everything suggest that both Sagan and MVdP are not coming in with high expectations, and are ok starting wherever they are told.

but as you say , little expectation from them for this race , but VDP has main reason is qualification for Olympics
im sure that’s a goal for other now behind him on the grid who will likely fly thousands of miles , and yes , race in the US to gain valuable UCI points

Remco Evenepoel is killing the Wolfpack. Maybe it's worth it for Lefevre to scrap everything for Remco, maybe it's about finding the next Belgian Grand Tour winner, but for racing fans, it might be an overall loss.
