Didn't expect that shot to make the cover of RKP for the week. It was a good ride, both for the bike and the company, though both Breeze and Fairchild were disappointed that Brady only wanted to do 45 minutes. Those guys were in the "let's ditch this show and enjoy the afternoon" mode. Bummed was I to found out they later rode to Hoover Dam.

I considered bringing the new kit, but with predicted highs of 98 both days in the desert, I brought out the summer jersey and bibs. I'm not a salty sweater like Marc or Keith, but even I had enough salt left on my clothes to top off several margaritas.

@ Stokes I think this article will clearly get people talking it is missing a huge factor - the biking infrastructure in the Euro countries it references is completely different and the culture of respecting riders is also different.

Found this today on the truesport.com website. Cat 2 by the age of 14...

Charlie Issendorf began racing in 1978 at the age of eight. By the age of 14, Charlie was a Category 2 cyclist. At 17 he competed at the Junior World Championships qualifiers and was second at the Junior National Pursuit Championships. As a 19 year old Category 1 cyclist, Charlie won the televised Tour of the Adirondacks Stage Race. He competed with the U.S. National Team at the Tour of Greece and La Vuelta a Chile. During his racing career, he had over 500 top ten finishes. Charlie was the former manager of the elite Breakaway Courier Team that featured top riders such as two-time U.S. Pro Criterium Champion Kevin Monahan and Tour of Ireland stage winner Adam Hodges Myerson. He guided the "hit squad" as he called it to countless victories including four podium appearances at the National Criterium Championships, two overall victories at the Atlantic Cup and a win at the Tour of Somerville.

This is ridiculous:

Vos is the current world road race and cyclo-cross world champion and won the Olympic road race title in London. She is known as the 'cannibal' of women's cycling after also winning world titles on the track and back to back victories at the last two editions of the Giro d'Italia. She is still only 25 but has won more than 400 races.

Don't get me wrong. I avoid nyvelocity.com like the plague. But I thought it was a nice acknowlegement from professional journalists to amateur bloggers for having the audacity to talk about what others would not. The actions of Tygart are somewhat irrelevant as he represents a different industry.

This is an interesting tactic. A sponsor sues the UCI for damage to their brand image. I'm not sure what tactic is needed to topple the leadership of the UCI, but maybe this plus 100 other lawsuits is enough to make it happen.

Hey gang - this was floating around facebook but I don't think anyone posted it here.

Two cyclists died last week in Riverhead.

On Thursday, Steven Kane, a 57 year old cx racer, was doing his daily lunch break training ride, and a driver on drugs crossed over from the oppossite direction and ran into him.

Myles knew him, said he raced every single Supercross since it started, and from the facebook comments, it sounds like he was all over the MidAtlantic + New england 55+ scene, as well as training for Nats and worlds.

Lots of folks had kind words.

More importantly, he was a father\grandfather\husband\brother, etc. I happen to know his daughters from college - one of them emailed and let me know how much pain they were in.

Steve Kane's daughter sent me this info re his services if anyone is interested:

"Wake is on Thursday at Chapey in West Islip. Viewings are 2-4:30 and 7-9:30.

(1225 Montauk Hwy, West Islip, NY 11795)

Funeral Service is on Friday at 10am at St. Peters in Bay Shore.

After the funeral service we will be going to the crematorium in Ronkonkoma.

The East End Cycling Team which my father was a part of will be riding from the Church to the Crematorium.

I don't know the details but if you would like to get some you can reach out with this email englishcoluccio@att.net.

We would love to get a race going in his honor at some point as well.
