Is there seriously any doubt Cav will retire at the end of this year? He’s clearly still competitive and we all know he wants to ride through the Arc du T one more time… one more year is certainly doable but he wanted to retire two years ago…

Isn’t she leaving the team after this season? Wouldn’t be the first time that a rider who was leaving was left unsupported at a race. Not very professional, nor a very good look for them. 

This is the tour de france after all, so drama is expected and anything that happens is under a full microscope...

It is not very clear, but to me it looked like Demi was too far back, that corner was kinda crazy (as after the turnaround you would have expected to go straight out, rather than turn left) and while it was beyond the new 5km marker, still very close to the finish and all the chaos that entails -- I am betting the riders did not realize or hear Demi had crashed for a couple of minutes, and and that point, that's about half the distance to the finish. 

BTW this has happened before with this team, look at last year's Strada Biancha, when Koppeky attacked Demi to the line
