fwiw one mechanic thought it might be “dub” which is a MTN bike standard that is a hair shy of 30mm but Ck only just started making them by special order only.

ck has promised to send me a new one so we’ll see what comes of that...

28.99 is DUB so I'm having a hard time believing that 29.81 is compatible with it.

I like T47 in concept because the threaded shouldn't wear out and it should be less likely to creak.  Obviously, the threaded shell or inserts adds weight over carbon, but probably the weight is only "saved" as you then need to press in long cups to work in place of the shell.

I know this is the new bike thread but I jumped into the 1X bandwagon with new H Plus Son hoops. The bike is at least 3 lbs lighter and rides beautifully. Thanks again for the great folks @Redbeard.

Some random thoughts:
- glad that at least one of the Walton kids is into cycling, Viathon is backed by Walmart and this bike is an insane value proposition
- odd that they spec'd cross tires on what they call a gravel bike, but hey, I can come out for that cross skills session
- not a fan of the clamp on front derailleur, esp for a carbon frame
- 9.12kg with xt pedals
- similar, but slightly more aggressive geometry compared to a Synapse
- the CycloXKing tires squirm quite a bit on pavement and had less grip than I expected (or maybe I should've expected that?)
- they skimped a little on paint work, I'd rather they did a good job with one coat. Instead, what they have is a silver base with a clear coat, and a matt black on top of that, I say they skimped b/c the edge of the black paint around the bottom bracket could be smoother
- a more horizontal top tube is good for a frame bag and bottles, but with that little bit of frame leading up to the seat clamp, there's barely any seatpost sticking up. So it'd be hard to get more comfort out of a better seat post.
- hopefully people don't get upset with me for not going through Redbeard. I did do a bunch of drivetrain upgrades through them earlier this year.

I fully blame @eloy, and to a lesser extent, @PatrickGrehan and @Mark Taylor for getting me hooked on riding gravel. Can't wait to ride this thing for real.

3. I wouldn't worry about the "lack" of post showing. Look at how much carbon seat tube extends past the top tube, check out the pencil stays.  And remember that tire pressure is going to be a far more important cushion than a fancy post.

I was thinking more along the Black Mamba line of thinking.

The bb issue was solved with a new set of plastic outer cups from CK (one of which I chipped on installation because #impatient)

Then I had to deal with that f-ing "knurled nut" chainring thing. How about you #knurlthis SRAM, eh?

Test ride today went well; a few issues to tidy up:

• I think there is more play in the brakes than I'd like so I'll see if I am doing something wrong with the bleeding
• Front tire has a slow leak - probably me nicking the rim tape when I mounted the tire - gah - that's gonna be a pita to fix
• need to cannibalize the stem from my ftb

A few more shots of the new crux, a little better put together with the new Van Dessel tubular wheelset -- which I got from Jim, via supercross

Redbeard has been amazing hooking me up with all the things to help me put it together.

@mugwump the bars are Giant I had them a while , kind of limited to options because of the oversized steerer Giant uses , 
new tires and chain , I went with 28s , but have also rocked 30s in the past, 
Im pretty proud to Say I built it back up myself this after noon including fitting a new bottom bracket
