Have a great time at the Gay Games, Gwynna! We'll miss you tomorrow.

Reminder for all joining the post-race ride tomorrow: We'll meet at Tavern on the Green. Race should finish around 7:30-7:45, so we'll roll out closer to 7:45-8:00 am.

@JohnMalcolmson had the good idea of doing a lap in the park, then join up with the GWB group leaving at 9 am. Should be a good, strong pack of Kissenas heading up 9W.

Looking forward to seeing you all!
Alternatively, you might want to consider eating something after the race. Unfortunately, Levain is not open until 9, but we found a nice bagel shop near by, which I think was the Grandaisy bakery on 72nd and Amsterdam (nice benches across the street in the park).

^ Thanks David, eating after the race is a very good idea. I'll bring some Clif bars at the very least.
Posted a report over in the race thread, for those interested.

Sadly, oh so sadly, I will not be able to race this weekend. I'm up in the Finger Lakes for work + a little vacation, with a splint on my wrist and my trainer set up for some stationary efforts overlooking Seneca Lake (life ain't so bad).

Go get 'em Emily and Erika!!!!
There is a chance that Kayt finishes the season in the lead. The women in 3rd & 4th place are registered. If the 3rd place woman doesn't come in 1st or 2nd and the 4th place doesn't come in 1st of the Cat4s then Kayt would win the jersey for the series.

So - Emily you place first for the Cat4s and with a little additional luck, Kayt wins.

Seems easy....

Kayt,

Forget work, forget vacation. You have the Cat 4 leader's jersey. This hobby must prevail over your personal and professional life, okay? Okay.

As for the splint - HA. Remember the lashing Froome got for abandoning? He wasn't even in yellow yet.
Maybe Kayt should take vacation more often. She is now the proud owner of this stuff.

Congrats Kayt! And I hope your wrist is better...

Ladies, anyone else interested in the final CRCA W4 field this Saturday? Thinking of putting some of this fitness to good use before it all disappears... ;)
Now you're thinking like a racer! Do it! Do it!Do it!Do it!Do it!
Ingrid is registered!  @Ingrid, don't forget to include the Kissena link when you register so your team affiliation is listed.  Easier to spot each other that way and bask in the reflected glow of your success ;)

I'm tempted, but probably won't partake.
Do it, Emily!  Sign up.  Support your teammate.  Race.  Practice.  Practice racing.
Show Central Park and CRCA the Kissena Women's team means business.

Gwynna kicking ass this summer.
Kayt riding away with a Cat 4 leader's jersey.
Erika upgrading.
Lookit Ingrid smashing it in the photo just a few conversations up.
I'm missing others, because there's been so much.
Be a part of this awesome ride.

And don't forget this attitude:

Who's with me, indeed.
Take it to 'em.
Of course, no pressure from me . . .
I walked right into that one didn't I...

@kayt wow! and with a wrist guard too! you are a dedicated racer!!
^What I love is that Kate is going hard enough that the bigger rider actually prefers to be in her tiny draft.

Because if you wanted to, you could never finish a single race yourself...

When does Marc the racer stop pedaling, transform into Marc the ER Nurse, to help a fallen rider?

If after assessing the scene/severity and there is either:
  1. no medical support at the race or...
  2. provided medical care would be delayed to the detriment of the health of the fallen rider.

Fortunately most race directors have EMS sitting in an idling ambulance ready to respond quickly, but as Jules and Lisa can attest, the medical care at some races can also be really not up to snuff.

Also, if you don't have medical training of some sort, then consider what kind of benefit you will be to the scene. Sometimes it's best if you just keep rolling, but if you are the type who really wants to help, then...

Accident scenes get crowded and complicated. And a good "job" for the person without medical training is "CROWD/TRAFFIC CONTROL."

Agree, Kayt is to be commended! My comment wasn't specifically direct at her...the picture just got me thinking about the times I've stopped, and the times I've rolled on by.

Hey Ladies... KCC club champs are a coed affair so if you haven't already checked out the thread or committed to knobby tires for the season then mark a big red "KCC" in your calendar next weekend because it's one event you don't want to miss.

To quote Erika from last year "I broke every single park Strava I had in the first lap... "

This race is usually a riot of trash talk and camaraderie for the first lap before the fireworks start. So. Much. Fun!

Registration is day-of only.
