I'm cross posting from the weekday rides thread:  I'm open beginning of this week to ride- mon, tues, wends. times and distance negotiable. could do anyting from hill repeats to a  a 50-60 mile ride from the GW bridge.

I have off Tuesdays (and some Thursdays depending on the week) so I can ride during the day, can do 40-50 miles. Hit me up if you have the same wacky schedule, my cell is 9736414004. Daniella sorry I missed your post, would have been cool to do a long ride with you. I went to Nyack yesterday afternoon and there was little to no traffic since everyone was working. It was beautiful out yesterday, fall riding is so BOSS!!

Saw this tweet from Richard Fries (veteran promoter and announcer) and made me think of a recent conversation I had with a racer:

"Just HOW big is CX in New England? The Cat 4 Women for @gpgloucester has a freakin' wait list! Make the Pilgrimage to Holy Week."

I realize that sometimes, women show up to races with just a handful of competitors, some of whom are definitely not beginners and what ends up happening is a lot of lonely solo riding and that, for some can be discouraging...or at least, not that fun.

For any KCC women thinking about cross racing, I encourage you to look at some of the bigger new England events as a venue/opportunity to race with lots of people in your actual racing category!

It's too late for this year's Gloucester, but the next week, at Providence? Women's 3/4 fields still open.

Related to Gywnna's post, I've decided that she and Jeff Owens are actually like secret twins...both love to talk about how "out of shape" they are all the time, and yet, if you go on a ride with them, you will get crushed. In a good way, but still, you'll be cursing them as they disappear into the distance.

Just noticed that Gwynna is the only KCC rider signed up for the women's 3/4 race. That seems...I don't know...weird to me.

Consider signing up to join her for the fun. The field is currently at 14 or so riders, which means it's a nice size for a beginners field. Not so big to feel overwhelming, but not so small that you feel like you are rolling around alone out there.

I know that at least Kayt and Erika have cross bikes....

C'mon, and support our big race! Plus, the pro women's field is looking pretty awesome too. Over 30 elite women battling for real prize money and UCI points. Should be fun and inspirational to watch!
