@marc Thanks. How steep is the wall? Any special gearing needed?
Really good report. Makes me sad I can't do it.

To be honest, usually once I start racing out of town, I've got a 27-tooth on my race wheel and never see a reason to switch it out. I'd feel uncomfortable with only a 39x23, but 39x25 is probably fine. I'm a spinner though. What gear are you climbing Ash out of Piermont? That's the gear you'll want for the climb. Remember it's steep as the first ramp, but longer. And at race pace.
I'm going to ride it in the 53x11. NBD.

Single speed right?!
I think this is a great USAC handout adapted to a NYC racers needs. It is CRCA specific, but still relevant. Probably a great thing for new Kissena riders to complete before racing:

Checkbox No. 55: Watch instructive video to get feel for park race sprinting.

outstanding. and you just *know* going in that jello biafra doesn't hold his line. he might as well change his name to roberto ferrari.
@ Stearns. Do not even contemplate sprinting against a Jello-lines Biafra.
That was a smoooooth move by Ferrari, what a goon! Spectacular crash mitigation skills by Cav.
I liked the guy who bunny hopped over Cavs prone body
PING!

I was asked about doing this talk anew early in July.  Makes sense to me.  Both for those who want to hash out htings they've seen and those who are new and want to get in on the conversation.

any interest? If we get a few yeahs, I'll post a doodle poll
Yes - I'd be keen on this, assuming I'm in town.  Seems like a good time for a mid-season check-in....
Would enjoy this...
two yeses.  Do I have a third and fourth?  New peoples?

I'm interested depending on when and where. I'm most likely to attend if its in Brooklyn.
PING!

Sorry for my recalcitrance here.  Anyone up for doing the tactics talk monday night?  I've got some time flexibility, so can be either brooklyn or manhattan.

Scroll up for info on what goes with this talk.  There will be a handout.  The quiz comes race day.

Considering the weather, we can probably do it outside somewhere, like in a park.

Any interest?  Any meeting place suggestions?
@ Wump I've missed the last 2 of these to my unending regret.  Sadly this will make 3 as it's anniversary night.
I am in for Monday
Anyone else?  Still need a place and time.  If someone puts out some nice food, maybe Lisa will drag Jules.

I'd love to make it to this as well.

Like a park...interesting and good suggestion. There's lots of nice, quiet space at the north end of Central Park. For example the pond area that comes right after the descent of Harlem Hill and before the west side rollers. Benches, grass, ducks. Good stuff.
Since nobody ventured forth a locale (I was thinking Stearns would offer up his place) I suggest we meet at the Prospect Park side of Grand Army Plaza at 7pm tomorrow night.

Seems like we've got Josh, Adam, me, marc?  Others?

I'm unfortunately going to be unable to attend after all due to a wake. Hope to make it for the next round, even if it's next season.
anyone else in?  I'll reveal race-winning secrets, the magic behind racing as a team, and perhaps who really killed Kennedy.

Hoffa's resting place is for closers only.
Noobs!  This is for you!

We will talk about in-season race tactics.

Everyone can be smarter about racing.
I'm sorry I can't get to this JP, its fun especially when its in the park on a nice night.

If you're free, go - especially if you're new to racing! There are some basic things that JP can help you grasp quickly that will immediately help you race better for yourself, and for the team as you move up into the 4s and beyond.
I gotta be home for family dinner tonight...I'm out.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to make it because of work.  Let me know if you schedule another in the future.

Is anyone joining JP tonight ? I have to bail as well .
Hey JP - Woulda offered up my space (for real!) but....but.....I've been tuned out/off the boards for the last couple weeks. Next time! Hope you had a good turnout.
