May need to work late tomorrow so I'll play it by ear if I can race
Race start is literally right in the middle of our kid's bedtime routine which isn't ideal, but I'll give it a shot this week and see how it goes.
Registered, the zwiftpower website is really confusing.
I registered. Gonna shave my legs for this. Has anyone figured out discord yet?

Here's the invite link to the existing Discord KCC Zwift Chatter channel

I *think* i am registered.
I clicked join on the Zwift.com event and changed my Zpower event name to "Robert Mullen (Kissena Cycling Club)" in my profile. Is that about it?
I think so...
I feel like we kinda get the short end of the stick over here on the east cost lol. All of my classes are done and now I've got like 4 hours before the race.

Good lord I read this as THURSDAY at first. Well guys I'm really sorry but I'm gonna have to roll with unshaved legs today. Hopefully the shame will wear off before spring.
Still warm enough for bare legs? I'm going with leg warmers..

Can I run Zwift companion and discord on my iphone at the same time or do I need a second device?
Thoughts on adjusting trainer difficulty? I think "Max" means up & downhills are 100% of the real world difficulty. My sense is that "Max" would be guaranteed getting gapped.

I wonder how ride with power adjusts for people with different settings

I think Discord can run in the background so you shouldn't need a second device.

And re trainer difficulty, I *think* zwift adjusts everything based on the watts you put out. So if difficulty is super low, uphill resistance may not feel as tough but you'll go slower if you don't pedal harder. If I get it right, lower trainer difficulty usually means less shifting because there aren't drastic changes when the going goes uphill. I've never really messed around with anything other than middle of the road difficulty though so I can't say from experience haha.
Well that was impossibly hard.
Max heart rate, 200bpm? Sure why not!
Me opening the door to Zwift racing

Seriously though it was a ton more fun coordinating with Jules on discord tho. Good times.

This. Get on the group party line. Total game changer. After the first seven minutes it was abundantly clear I was in for a lead-pipe beating so I switched my focus to a 20 minute field test. Lemonade, right?

I also tried out switching the trainer slider to Max, which definitely changes things. I was very unhappy that I only had a 25 in the back when we hit the big climbs and I fucking spun out on the descent. Coasting was nice, though.
Will join the disco next week.
Ahh yeah I didn't see anyone on discord in the starting pen. That sounds like fun though, next race for sure.

I got popped going up the first tough climb and then rode the struggle bus in no man's land for the rest of the race. Heart rate was through the roof, power was non-existent. I feel like this might be a fun jumpstart to some actual training though! Thanks for setting it up everyone.

I enjoyed racing with you all in Charlie's zwift races this spring and plan to join these soon.

Great find, and exactly what I experienced.
any chance we can move these races to random weekday afternoons in between my work meetings with about 30 minutes notice of my availability?

Looking at the power numbers, if I somehow get into "race shape" I'll be back to mid pack fodder status, just like in real life!

BTW @RobertMullen you might need to join the KCC team on zwiftpower:

Not bad for the first time out of the new (virtual) season...

dang, thought i jumped through all of the proper hoops. I just sent a request!
Bummed I missed out yesterday but hoping to join y'all next time. I'm hoping things reset after a Zwift hiatus because earlier this year I was in the As and at this moment in time I should definitely not be in the As...
