Indoor Training, and Virtual Racing (ZWIFT)

I'm still waiting for the Road Rash mode.

BTW was it just me or did I see custom CRCA kits in Zwift?  I guess they have a deal with the club.  Considering the founder is a long time CRCA guy, I'm not surprised.  Wonder if they'll open it up to other clubs...
I have the Garmin Ant+ USB to connect to Zwift. What's the trick to get Ant+ to work better? Extender cord? I do a 20 min test on Zwift and I keep getting drop-outs — wattage is off by about 5W, cadence is about 7rpm low. Wahoo app on iPhone connects to the Kickr via Bluetooth and it's perfect, I can compare the numbers side by side. Ant+ sucks. Laptop's on my handlebars.

Give the extension a try, zwift recommends it.

I use the extension, but as a way to make the dongle bigger so I don't lose it again.

No idea what could be causing the wattage and cadence to be lower -- I assume you mean lower in the zwift screen than your bike computer(?)

...if I had to guess, maybe tracking rate varies, for example, you have zwift set up to show you 3 seconds avg power, vs your bike computer setup for 1 second or something of the sort.
I don't know about other power meters, but Stages seems particularly sensitive to old batteries and connections to ANT+.  I would replace the PM battery and see if that helps with the dropouts.  I have my laptop on a stool about 3 feet from the power meter with clear sightlines and maintains connection 99% of the time with a fresh battery.

Regarding different power numbers and cadence you'll have to compare apples to apples, meaning connect to Zwift and your Garmin (or whatever else you use) at the same time.  Theoretically they should be exactly the same since the displays are merely reporting numbers that the PM is sending them.  Also helps to calibrate before every ride (I do it on my Garmin, takes all of 15 seconds).  I do notice that Zwift actually reports power numbers about 1-2 seconds faster than the Garmin, possibly due to more processing power on a laptop compared to the micro-brain on a 5yo Garmin head unit.  Otherwise the numbers are identical.
@Eloy You're missing the point; they need to create an 8-bit version that runs on a Commodore 64 (64KB of memory). Zwift is a shining example of bloatware.
John, you mean "computrainer" mode where everyone is represented as a little colored dot on what looks like a line graph?

Exactly! Btw, leave it to Computrainer to steal a UI from 1978.

Thanks for tip Eloy #makethedonglebigger
I use my phone app to switch views....just ordered a $10 handelbar mount for the Iphone while I'm zwift to make this easier
I made a DIY garmin mount. Works great

Yacks, sorry I was radio silent, forgot my phone upstairs.  Had fun "jumping" you for that sprint line, not that you knew I was sprinting ha-ha-ha.
SHIT!   somebody else texted me and I rode with him.  Would have stayed with you...if I was sure it was u... u my favorite boo
anyone riding tonight, around 630?
I was on the island for about 2 hours last night....but I'll cross swords with you Eleanor

how do we do that?  is there a group ride feature?  do I just ride along until I see you?  do we need to pick a landmark?
I will probably be on around 7-8.
Brendan, see link, but short answer is to look for rider you want to ride with before you start. I find that you have to start pedaling before you hit the Ride button or you will appear in the game standing still while the person you want to follow rolls away from you.

Yes pedal before you hit ride...just follow scoobs

Taking the dogs to the vet at 5:30...not sure exactly when I'll be home...can we push this to 7:00?
I just slapped this on for $10   holds the iphone nice....let the elbow flicks, ride on's and hammer times commence.....sadly Robby is now missing a hand

Sorry guys, not happening tonight for me.
I'll probably be riding around 7 or half hour before.  I think you still have my phone number, Yaks?  whats your Zwift name? (I accidentally typed "what's your steam ID" for the gamers in the crowd)
Yacks, I feel like we need a wider shot of whatever the hell it is you have going on there.

And maybe a hazardous waste analysis of whatever that is growing on your walls.....
Also, you have a compu trainer? I wonder how that trainer/tech stacks up with today's smart trainers and power meters. Is it still a kind of gold standard, or is it old and dusty tech?

Nelly...I bought  the house at an estate sale...from this poor guy who died of natural causes....

Computrainer is the Blackberry of indoor trainers now....but it's a bit like an air cooled Porsche...outdated but you still want one in the garage

i'll be on within the next couple minutes if anyone wants to join.

i think i'll be trying one of the workouts?  so might not work out as a "group ride"
Well Zwift at least got my heart rate up and my blood boiling , 2 computers later and I still can't figure the fucking thing out , I have a wahoo kicker ,a ant dongle , when it asks me to pair  , which icon do I select

I have a computrainer and one usb cable...to my macbook and all is well
Finally got it to work , turned the computer off and on again and my device showed up allowing me to pair
Only had an hour or so to ride today so hopped on Zwift to try the new mountain. It's a butt kicker for sure but I felt pretty good. Zwift made me raise my FTP afterwards......
