@JohnOlsson I'll share what others told me last winter when I asked the same question, because it turned out to be great advice.

Go for fleece leg- and arm-warmers instead of long tights or long-sleeved jerseys. They're more versatile, easier to care for, and save you money. Get a size that's very snug or else they'll slip down, leave skin exposed, and drive you crazy. 

If you don't have a WindGuard vest already, get one--I've worn mine at least one day every month this year so far except July and August. (Though do I remember correctly that I saw you wearing one at Branch Brook in March?) For this, also consider stepping down a size. 

I've found that the above items, worn with non-insulated bib shorts, the standard short-sleeved jersey, a short-sleeved base layer, and a cap, are warm enough for me on club rides down to 40F or just below, depending on the sunshine, humidity, wind and the intensity of the ride, of course.

To stay warmer still, add to your cart the fleece bib shorts ("fleece shorts" still sounds odd to me, but I've found them useful) and the ThermoShield winter jacket. The jacket is a bit pricey, but worth it. Better than the vest for windy weather, and on the coldest days of winter I wore it over my warmest non-Kissena fleece jersey and a long-sleeved base layer. The jacket was a staple into April, when it once admirably repelled scattered showers on a three-hour ride in the mid-40s. In the spring and autumn, I've enjoyed wearing it before and after races.

Club consensus seems to be that hats, gloves, socks, and shoe covers all seem to be things best purchased outside of ChampSys.

except for hats. I mean, I have a crazy collection of hats from all brands, the champsys cycling "tech" cap is the best actually ride/race under the helmet cap ever in the world.

i am a big fan of the redbeard under the helmet cap, found the champsys version tends to leave marks on my head. I guess if you dont have a large melon dome head you will be fine haha

Hats with a brim are a mixed bag. I've gotten insane use out of an 8 dollar Craft hat like this

I'm a big fan of merino wool knit caps, tho just keep in mind that your helmet will need need some extra room in case you have a tight fitted helmet (btw, good chance to order a new POC helmet from Redbeard if you do need a winter helmet).

Never felt the need to use my Gore windproof skull cap or balaclava ever, even in the coldest of nyc winter rides. My favorite winter gear, that JP turned me onto, is a cheap windproof and fleece lined neck gaiter. Mine is from Uniqlo and I paid like $10 for it and it is my favorite.

I agree David. In order of utility:

1. Thermal hat (above)
2. Neck gaitor
3. Warm gloves
4. Warm booties

Of course, you can probably opt of buying any clothing that takes you below 60 degrees and use the money you save for a kicker and some Netflix

The team kit store schedule for the 2017 season has been posted!

Hey y'all - team kit store is opening tomorrow evening! 

As as a heads up: Six Point is not a 2017 sponsor. We don't have a new layout yet for the logos on the jerseys, so if you order a jersey during this round it'll still have the Six Point logo.

Logo layout will be different by the time next order opens up. Everything other than jerseys will be staying 100% the same this season.

Hi everyone, I have a kit EMERGENCY!
But for those who don't know me yet, I'm Ulrike, new club member, new in NYC, new in the US.... and I'm planing to race Grant's Tomb next week, thats why I need team kit very quickly.
Therefore I follow Ben's advice to ask you if anyone has lightly used gear you could sell me? I'm looking for something like a jersey in S and a short in M.

good thing we don't have an ED doc on the team anymore because she would probably say that your condition is non-emergent.  we'll get you a jersey, fear not!  i was in the same position almost exactly 4 years ago today at my first bike race at branchbrook.  they gave me a small jersey that i put over my neon high-viz jacket, which was lovely.  they also gave me the nickname hi-viz, which was not

just let us know which field are you racing and we'll make sure you have a team jersey to wear

as for bibshorts, when the weather is cold, many racers don't bother with sponsor-correct leg coverings.  you should make sure you have what it takes to be warm down there given the weather forecast

Two things: 

1) she's still keeping an eye out for the "peeps in Orange" even from DLH
2) dude, "High Viz" is as good as a nickname gets. There ain't none better.
