Ditto on the 2012-2013. We are fresh out of old skool kit, and our sponsors have mostly changed. Didn't seem right to print up a new batch of old skool with (some) defunct sponsors still aboard.

There are also some sweet clothing options available this year that weren't in the past (razor-elite bibs, aero fabrics, aero *gloves* if you need 'em, etc)

Further the FIFTIETH freaking anniversary.

At any rate, these things always take much longer than we hope, so getting rolling now ensures we have most people rolling in KCC50th kit in time.

PS Moser said that when a club reaches 50 years old they get a medal & certificate from the government... so anyone who wants to kit up with me in 2013 and give the old coot a visit (and collect our medal) is welcome to come.

Please please, please, please do NOT have white shoe covers. They get covered in shit after two rides and look scruffy forever after. Let's not even mention when you get drivetrain gunk on them. Any chance they can just be all Navy, like the arm warmers?

The current shoe covers have a certain "reservoir tip" look about them. I think a pair of basic Belgian booties (XL socks with a hole cut in the bottom) work just fine and are so PRO.

Plain black shoe covers don't look too bad if you're not into keeping the white stuff clean. Most bike apparel companies make a set.

This kit looks great! I'm looking forward to ordering mine, and showing it off in front of UCI headquarters.

As one of those who participated in the design of the present kit, I think this new one looks nice. The present design is almost 10 years old, so it is time to update. I think you have stayed within the guiding principles we went for a decade ago: stylish simplicity, a durable design, inclusion of NY colors, while being economical (people don't realize how expensive kits can get if you start including too many colors and designs). It is great you have also come up with a great logo for the club's 50th! (We're even older than I am!) I hope the board also finds ways to appropriately commemorate this anniversary next year. As you seen to realize, it's not too early to start thinking about it.

All in all, well done and thanks!

I think the re-design is really fantastic and whoever was involved did a bang up job, and am excited to order and ride in the new kit!

What I think would be really cool, to commemorate 50 years, would be to offer a classic style wool jersey with a 3/4 zipper. Obviously not something easily done, but I love that classic look with a a solid black bib short.

Kissena kit - revisions 2013

wow! super job for 'upDatedRetro kit', i like it, very much...a few KEY COMMENTS below:

item1. @malcolmson.. good flag idea, i think the subtlety of tricolor at back neck it excellent!!! BUT, we do need th inside collar seceret inspiration notation, maybe it IS a beaver, other expression...lets NOT miss the opportunity to include the inside 'collar note'.

item2. @adam, completely agree no more white on the booties!...totally impractical (this from the damn dirtiest rider out there, me) &more importantly from my 'design sensibility' side i STRONGLY favour(eng spelling for you adam) the minimalists monochrome from knee down &honestly believe it will be a sharper look for kitw/more teammates actually wearing the smartly appointed socks 'alla the Julesian 3x podium shot @2012 Battenkill!!!!

item3. @ALL, BIG DEAL for me is missing "KISSENA" on rear panel of shorts...I really like seeing the Kissena logo line-up from rear and the OVERSIZED "Champion Systems" is NOT getting it for me...i believe when that LOGO is on our rears we will be dissapointed &more like ALL the rest of their park riding bill boards!

item4. Happy to see 'Ride Brooklyn' great people/support/shop/service...However, i do think that both Ride Brooklyn & Rudy should occupy same top line w/Ride Brooklyn 1st and finally

The Kissena kit redesign was a *very* hard task - honoring a rich history, keeping true to the clubs roots and managing a complex sponsor landscape.

Harry: Sadly design by committee (or worse, democracy) is not a viable option. The design as you see it is what we'll be rolling with.

(FWIW We got to eyeball some of the fancy Champsys "Razor" bibs today at Hunter and they look sweet; waaaay better than the Hincapie stuff in case anyone cares)

Not a comment about the design...but the chamois form our shorts...am I the only one that finds the orange chamois from last year's order totally uncomfortable? Like someone rolled up a cloth diaper and jammed it length-wise up my glory hole. This pair is officially my crit shorts, if you know what I mean.

the newer assos-esque dimpled one? I haven't done much time in mine yet, but they feel nice when I squish them.

Re: Razor, Chamois choice, etc.

Basically if the kit is offered on the Champsys website (http://champ-sys.com/custom/cycling) it will probably (that means "probably" not "guaranteed") be available in the online store.

Specific to Chamois, you'll be able to order the crotch-pad of your preference.

Specific to Razor - it is the new elite (read expensive, fancy, Rapha-Killing) bibs: http://champ-sys.com/custom-cs-elite-bib.html

I think the orange dimpled pad is a lot more comfortable than the original grey/blue chamois. I found those next to useless and coupled with the 'death by a thousand cuts' leg grippers made the shorts of a couple of years ago totally unbearable. I

the CS Razor bibs are nice. They're what Charlie gives to the leaders in the L&C Cup series. Very comfortable, but I am not 100% certain I'll buy them at $45 more than the regular bibs.

What David says is true. It's a logo that was on Kissenas early kits in the 1960s.

If you go to the 3rd page of the sandbox thread, there is a photo of Al in a 1980s Kissena jersey. If you zoom in on the shoulders he has a KCC logo with the C's as concentric circles.
