Hi all - FYI tomorrow's Meet Kissena Ride is set to be some post-race laps in the park.

http://mailchi.mp/87b280c5049b/see-you-tomorrow-am

Unfortunately an intense 24 hours of travel has knocked me out with a nasty cold, so I will not be joining. @GregStreiff has kindly agreed to greet the 4 prospective members that are coming at 7:45. Please join him for some laps with the prospects to help vet them.

I'll be there for the vetting process, aka they buy me muffins and coffee or they don't get on KCC.

Love this so hard.
I got nuthin...felt horrible today.  Finally started to find the front with about 3 to go.  Going up the hill in the finale somebody managed to get a flag with a giant wooden stick attached to it in their front wheel.  Made an awful carbon crunching sound...Yacks smashed brakes...front group gaps....yacks tries to catch back on but....not...the worst news is that my trusty Cateye Stealth 50 was not so trusty and crapped the bed before the start so...no power file...what could be worse!
Thierry and Eloy were looking spry....JP just looks wrong without his Zip wheels....hope he gets them back soon....

^so you're saying you got gapped on the hill?

It's a good thing you are in Duluth and that Lisa is a Dr.   cuz if you were here I'd give you a frame pump enema for that...

Race report (w plenty of GIFs).

Uneventful for the first 3+ laps. Basically stayed in the back to conserve energy.

Closely monitored the front dudes (which included @JohnOlsson). He was up front dominating from the start. No credible breakaways. Strategy was working.

Lap 4 I started to move up. Kept reminding myself that I paid $40 bucks for this race so don't shit the bed. Also working.

Rode smart in the final lap. Was well positioned at the base of the last climb, by the lefrak center or whatever it's called. On the other hand, I was all the way to the left and getting pushed into the running lane / on coming runners. I held that white line for a bit trying not to die or kill anyone. Started to push back upon realizing it wasn't sustainable.

Got distracted by some runners...

Banged hands with a rider to my right. Apologized. He began lecturing me on criterium racing and "this kinda shit comes with the territory", etc.

but I stopped listening...no time for chit chat

mid hill @JohnOlsson rolled up next to me and pitched a few ideas. My brain was fried. We decided to reassess up top.

$40 for admission worked bc I didn't lose much ground. By the top of the hill I was close to top 10. Caught my breath and then started sprinting...

Making serious headway. As I was edging into the top 5, a PPRNYC rider with donuts all over his jersey chopped me hard. I gave an instinctual holler which definitely frightened him. He didn't check his surroundings before swerving hard left for what appeared to be no reason at all. It was crazy. Chopping at 30 mph is no bueno.

Anyway, I took 9th. Live to die another day.

Lesson learned: don't slow with the rest of the pack at the top of the hill. I should have pushed down on the gas instead. I think that would have reduced the likelihood of getting chopped so close to the finish line.
Eloy looked resplendent in his neck wrap.  His lack of leg warmers and new Giant bike were very PRO...jury is still out on the sunglasses

love you too, Yacks!
flock of seagulls on the bike should be the name of our band.
(Thierry will play keyboards. obvs.)
