For Saturday there are less than 50 people registered. 45 minutes is plenty of time to get registered. If you can print out the USAC release form beforehand so you don't have to do thing like try to remember your emergency contact number at 6AM.

So far it looks like Joe, Gideon, Jeff White, Chris and myself. I think we've got a good team to support Joe.

I think it really comes down to Jeff's question about the points. How are they alloted and how many are you ahead by? Until you know that, it's hard to know what kind of race you want.

For example, if you know have to go top 3 to stay in the leader's jersey, then you have to ask yourself what kind of race gives you the best chance to win and ask your strong team to try and force that race.

On the other hand, if all you need is a top 10, then maybe you just want your guys to shut down all threats and deliver you safely to the line so you can keep the jersey for another week.

Keep in mind that you are likely to do very well in the TT, so you may want to minimize risks until then.

I think the break-without-you-in-it has some potential but unless you can really mark the other series leaders its very risky. Given that breaks have been major threats so far this season I have a hard time believing that someone who is a threat to take the jersey from you won't put themselves in that move. If that gets another Kissena on the podium that's great, but it would be bittersweet if you guys sit in the pack thinking there's no one who's a threat up the road only to find out that you were wrong and somebody picked up major points on you.

Wish I could be there to help! Racing in California with no teammates is getting a bit lonely!

I couldent find the points awarding break down on the flyer. If points only go 10 deep, it shouldent be hard at this point to keep track of where everyone is on our own.

Something to keep in mind is uscf points.
I am trying to keep track of the local series and upgrading people as appropriate.

Thanks Marc for the sage advice re getting away on PP. Re the road surface there: after downhill I thought we had to keep out of the "striped line" section after or risk disqualification. If you're staying in the car lanes around near the columns you need to choose to go either side of the rough patch, the left side of it could fit two riders side by side at a real squeeze. Cones would make it even more sketchy. I'd suggest staying right if you're not top ten. Or maybe they turn a blind eye there, Bueller? There's also a potential wheel killer near the drinking fountain on the West side—trick is to memorize these areas and anticipate.

AJ Van Dunk just tweeted that "The Start finish line in Prospect park is changed to the exit near Empire Blvd (the Kissena Finish)" AND he posted results from last weekend, looks like I didn't get a place?! have emailed him to see what's up via bikereg, if there's a better way to contact him please let me know.

Did you stick around to hear your name announced? There's usually a protest period after the race.....they seem pretty disorganized (also - their Facebook race page might feature the worst batch of race photos ever publicly posted - I think there's even an accidental shot of a guy's pant leg)

Let's see, I was standing on the podium and there were these two cute italian girls, it was all a blur ... that or, I went to the table and I told them my name/Cat. and they said "let's see, John Malcolmson, here you go, 2nd place" and gave me the trophy. I can't say I remember if the results were called on the bullhorn or not — anyone else? David can you drop us the link to the Facebook pant leg?

Awesome pictures, that guy must of still been drunk from the night before. I'm sure the picture of the leg is when he fell asleep for the Cat 5 finish which is why the results are all screwed up... Does anyone know the scoring system for the 5s, I quickly looked at the flyer and didn't see anything for the 5s, only the 1-4s. John is the only one to get points in both races. Also, of the remaining point getters, Joe Jacobs is the only one racing this wkd (sat or sun). If we can get John points in both races (and prevent JJ from getting points) we should have a pretty solid grip on the overall. Although I'm sure about anyone with pre-reg points..

Hey guys, here's where I'm at.

My back is absolutely killing me right now. I went for a ride today in CP with JP. And basically all I have is I can ride in a straight line, with shallow breaths. Any kind of twisting, acceleration, out of the saddle stuff is out. There's no way I could follow moves or jumps right now. In fact going from a seated position to a standing position in my house, from my rocking chair is painful.

I'm going to do a few things tonight, and set my alarm as if I'll be able to race tomorrow, but I'm not hopeful at this point. I'll do my best to be there though.

Sorry to hear that... I got an email few hours from AVD with the results and you got 2nd. Funny, I don't appear anywhere... I don't know if I got 3rd or 4th, but i don't even appear in the top 5...seems they have a serious issue with the results.
Don't think it is that important, but I hope at least they have registered as you have completed the race so it can count against the 10 you need...
Anyone knows at the end, where the final official results are posted?

William and I made the break today, but finished out of the money (soooo embarrassing)

Still, it was the hardest spring series race of the year, lots got blown out the back and the break formed more as a split.

Who is in for tomorrow? Looks like me and Myles fo sho. Marc is on fence.

Today was a tough race, I ended up finishing 6th which I am pleased with. The Scotto guys were out in full form, all eight(thousand) of them. From the whistle they had a rider off the front. Then another one of their teammates would site as the 2 man in the peloton and soft pedal. The pack was pretty keen on chasing any sort of break down, but for the most part 2-3 person groups would splinter off and try to get away. I stayed in top 10-15 riders for the first two laps and kept pulling anything back to keep everyone together. After lap two I started looking for breaks, there were a couple chances were I went away, but I was being marked and was reeled in pretty quickly. The third lap I faded back 20-30 riders to try and save energy for the sprint but the riding was so wild mid pack I decided that it would be safer and better for me to stay as close to the front as I could. This decision cost me extra work but I feel it helped me tremendously overall. Once we hit tavern on the green a Scotto rider came to the front and picked up the pace, he did about a quarter of the loop then pulled off. Some riders took turns at the front but the next big pull was another Scotto rider. Once we rounded horse shit alley I decided to stay 3rd wheel till the sprint, making the jumps to others wheels as they went by. This took a good bit of effort, but I still think it was worth it. Once we hit half way up cats paw I broke right and started cranking. I focused on two things turning the pedals over and wanting it more than the other riders. I crossed the line in 6th. Francisco from Scotto who won last week won again today. Gideon and Jeff you guys helped a lot pulling in breaks and working at the front. I know some of the other riders had some bad luck and got a flats. But overall for the 3/4 race I'm still the points leader. It could be tough to hang on tomorrow, but we have a strong team so maybe we can show everyone that we still here and not going anywhere.

Can't miss that points jersey: looks like Barney the Dinosaur took a hurl on it. Particularly awesome worn two sizes too small. Second today (confirmed). Thanks to team for shutting down NYVelo and Mitch for leadout.

It was my first Central Park race, and I'm kicking myself for not using the first THREE LAPS to plan for the finish better. It kind of feels like after burning your legs up on the climbs you're quickly funneled into a twisting and turning manure luge, only to be unceremoniously and suddenly excreted across the line before you have any space to improve your position.

Joe was all over the front, tried a couple moves, then positioned for the seemingly inevitable sprint.

I tracked Gideon's solid wheel for the first half of the race in the front half of the pack, then came to the front at the start of the third lap when things started to get interesting and halfway credible attacks started going off the front. Joe went with a couple, Gideon bridged to one, and I tried to block for them all as well as I could without being a complete douche. In our pre-race meeting, I was our last-ditch sprinter, so I did not attack. Just as well; as Joe said, teams were really motivated to keep it together.

I blew the last lap after the climb. Lost some places on the uphill (due either to bad legs or bad head) and lacked the urgency to get back to the front before the course narrowed into the shit chutes. And that was all she wrote, as it was all clogged up until the finish.

Joe did well to finish in the money against a tough Scotto's team that had a good day for their man.

First race of my season in prospect park today and bottom line we raced well. We started with 5 K's Norm, Dan, and Jeff covered all breaks and really kept the race together. I can't express how much I appreciate how hard you guys worked today. I was able to sit in and watch the field to see what everyone was up to. When we hit the bottom of the hill there was one strong rider off the front who was in a two lap break earlier, and it seemed like he was a good person to work with so I decided to bridge up on the hill. Francisco (scotto), Misha(Hudson), a fellow from JV and myself ended up bridging up, I felt like it was going to be the winning move. We were working together but once we were about to pass the masters we ended up getting tangled in peloton and had to cut across the middle through traffic. So I think that hurt us pretty good. I think now we lost Misha and there were only 3. Once we hit the bottom of the hill the pack was gaining so it was time to sit up and wait for the sprint. With one lap to go we organized and I think had everyone together. I must give a shout out to Jeff for pulling me from the back to the front safely through all the craziness that was ensuing at the time. Here's were I think I made a mistake, I was nervous of getting pinned down, so I was pushing to be in the front of the pack, but this forced Dan, Norm and Jeff to eat the wind. As we rounded the last curve dan pulled off and left Jeff and I. Jeff pulled then pealed off. So I jumped on a ride brooklyn rider's wheel. Then the Scotto train lead in. They flew by 3 strong with about 100m's left in the race. I jumped but my legs felt like lead, and I just didn't have the punch. I ended up finishing 10th overall and loosing the (3/4 imaginary) leader's points jersey. But its still early in the season and there is always next week.

I will be out Wednesday night in Prospect Park on my fixed gear doing some laps afterwods I will be heading to Bierkraft at 8:30. So if you rode for me over the past 3 weeks in any of the Spring Series 3/4 races come out to Bierkraft at 8:30 and I will buy you a beer.

Sorry I missed y'all this morning, I hope John kept the jersey. I managed to wake up on time for the race, but the aftereffects of the night before convinced me that if I were to actually show up, there was a good chance I was gonna vomit all over the peloton. Figured it wasn't worth it. See y'all next weekend, I vow not to be too hungover to race next Sunday.
