Sorry. Can't resist.
I moved to California on Wednesday. I have ridden *outside* every day but in an effort to not get tendonitis by doing too much too soon I have only ridden 11 hours in the first 4 days.
However, yesterday was pretty cold. I used arm warmers. It was 67 degrees.

Rode outside today on the cross bike upstate. 1 PSI for every degree Fahrenheit! My bike ended up with an ice beard--very White Walker. Note the snowbank that is the about the same height as my head while on the bike.

I wore my kit on a ride today...it was considerably warmer than Brendan's ride...(pay no attention to the brisket growing off my back...twill be gone by May)

Traditionally, The last Sunday ride before the season Is an "all hands on deck" affair.
Everyone who is racing in March comes out. We ride together to the Rockleigh crit course, we ride a few laps easy there, then we do a short race simulation.
After discussing the race, we break up into groups, with the Cat 5's going to Palisades, NY and home, the women doing the same in their own group, the Cat 4's going to Sparkill, and the 1/2/3's going out to Rockland Lake
It's a meet up, a practice, a coordination, a test to see who's in what kind of shape. It's never good to see teammates for the first time on the start line.
If the Spring Series is starting next Sunday in Central Park, this Sunday would be the day. I've reached out to AVD to see if it's a go this year. If the Spring Series is not starting March 1, we can do this ride next weekend. As it is, only Branchbrook is on the local calendar and that's two Saturday's away.

Anyone going out on Saturday? Looks pretty cold in the morning. Sunday warmer but rain.Not sure what the family situation is on Saturday, but if it's say 16 and sunny, I'll say it's a go for me. Would love to wait though, say 11am departure. Just not sure about my wife's schedule that day.
Sunday, I have to be back home by 1:30pm at the latest. Keeping fingers crossed for some nice dry skies for a nice group ride.

Seems to me the threshold of riding for a lot of guys seems to be backwards. For me it was always that January and February are a write-off. Just the way it is in NY I am afraid. If, however, a day comes by when it is dry and 28 or more, a bonus day outside!

I'm doing a ride over the GWB with Jake Saturday (tomorrow) Meeting at the Intrepid battleship on 46th street and West Side Highway at 10:00am or about 10:45am at the birdge on the NJ side. Doing a wormhole loop in NJ if the bridge is open (will check in real time tomorrow AM). Ride is planned for 3-4 hours, reasonable pace 200 watts or so. Please join any and all. Alternate plans to come depending on the bridge actually being open or not.

That was a typo. Craig meant 3-4 hours at 300w, obviously.That's a bit too easy for me. I was planning on 4.15 hours at 308w. You guys won't be going long enough or hard enough for me. Guess I'll head out in the afternoon to enjoy more snow.

Do you live on the Peninsula? I lived in Palo Alto while I was in high school so I know Old La Honda Road very well….although I actually went running up it more often than I rode it. When I think of beautiful rides it is the first one that comes to mind…I dream of it sometimes

JP and I started in the dry, it quickly started snowing pretty heavily, roads got covered and we turned around, keeping our fingers crossed that they hadn't closed the bridge on us.

Awesome beardcubes, so trim and neat looking Adam! I have no idea how my 'icicles formed. I do know that the wind and fine snow was blowing hard. You could see the "jet stream" flow as it launched at a perfect 45 degree angle over the railing and into my face. And that flow beat the shit out of the right side of my face.
Still snowing up here in upper Manhattan. Bummed about a possible cancellation of tomorrow's fun.
