We laughed. We cried. It was hot and today I'm sore.
we hydrated as best we could. (there's a thread on the topic)

That would be Jill n Jeff, Malcolmson, Brian Miele, Rigby, Damian (popping his Sunday ride cherry), and myself.  We started on River Road and convinced Jill to ride up Bradley before taking a cooler at Piermont.

On the way back, we started to pick up the pace, only to have Jeff flat a latex tube.  Which led to chaos, as Malcolmson had an allergic reaction to latex, Whitey bent the new tube's valve using a frame pump, and then flatting a second time in Tenafly.

A sticker patch saved the day for Whitey, though Damian, going harder and longer than ever, found cramps were his short-term reward once we hit the city.

fun times.

Check out that super pro bell and the super pro fear of death in my eyes.
David,

just remember, death is more afraid of you than you are of it.

Ride report from last weekend:

I would like to note that none of the riding described therein was conducted while wearing jean shorts, sleeveless t-shirts or flannel, and I wore a helmet the entire time.  :D
@BenFinoRadin

With that description of the outfit you had on, I would have expected more sick jumps over fire pits and wheelies. I is sad.
Ben, that's a great write-up. What's the deal with that crazy house?

The entire yard is Thyme. My tent has never smelled so good

Even Bond villains need a Catskills getaway every once in awhile. Sometimes you just have to get away from your hollow volcano lair and unwind.
Oh and if anyone is ever down for some bikepacking, give a holler! Friday after work escape to Harriman (or Hammer it to Harriman as I like to call it) is an easy one, and from there Saturday options abound. I'm headed out to Montauk tomorrow for some camping tho
Damn, okay, we need Ben to organize like a Kissena touring ride.
Ben, I don't think this was your intention but I got a little weepy reading this. Really good stuff. Thank you so much for sharing it, I think I have to get a gravel bike now. Please keep up the riding and the writing!!!!!

@harry bolick I'm gonna have to take a mulligan, I'm sorry, I pulled a muscle today (not bad) but want to give it a lil rest.

Everyone else, order to you hearts content!
Alright y'all. I'm planning my next adventure. Mid October Vermont foliage touring!

The gist…

Weds: hammer it to Harriman after work
Thurs: Harriman to Kaaterskill Wild Forest
Fri: Kaaterskill to Greenwood Lodge & Campsites in Woodford VT
Sat: Greenwood to Mt Ellen in Green Mountain National Forest (backcountry camping)
Sun: Mt Ellen to St. Albans by way of Grand Isle
Mon: train home

Big miles & big hills. Road, dirt, gravel, all of it. What say ye? Any takers?

Holy crap, Ben, you need your own thread.

I WISH I had the schedule to do this, sounds amazing.
Sunday (Aug 28), in preparation of Green Mountain, looking for a big ride, including (at least) River Road and Bradley Tweed.  Hope some of y'all are in.  Should be fun and punchy.

8am BBridge, 9am GWB
I wanna do the last Castelli race on sunday but I do wanna come for a long ride with you guys also... ah... deciding has never been more difficult.
Hey Scott,
I'm racing in CP early but will come for a spin afterwards... need to be back for lunch so might just be RR :-)

Do both! Your race will end by 7am, and then can join us.  May not be the whole ride, but at least to River Road.

I'll prob watch the last couple of the Masters laps, and then head to BBridge to meet at 8am.
sounds like a plan
For anyone not going to GMSR:

I've been itching for a long ride, so I'm planning on a Bear Mountain excursion at some point over Labor Day weekend. Last time was 120 miles with 7500' of elevation, this time I'm thinking 125 with just above 8000'. Will be a most-of-the-day affair, with plenty of stops for food & drink - I don't have any aspirations except making it there and back in one piece, so the pace will probably be relaxed with spirited climbs. I've done the ride semi-solo before, and that got super boring on the way home, so I'm hoping to get a few more to join me. I'm really flexible that weekend, so whatever day works best for the most people is fine with me.

Tentative route: https://www.strava.com/routes/6283780 (if anyone has suggestions for the route I'm all ears)
Thinking of doing an early 8am GWB mettup ride this weekend, leaning towards Sunday, but open for Saturday.  Want to get back home by 11ish so it'll be a quick jaunt up to Piermont with a quick coffee stop.
I'm planning on a 4 hour ride on Saturday, RR to Piermont, possibly back on RR as well.  I could do 8am GWB.
Cool, I think I can hack Saturday, will confirm.
Any other takers for Saturday? 7am BB, 8am GWB.  The plan is River Road to Piermont and possibly back on RR too.
I am highly likely to join for a while. Meet @ BB.
See you @ 8am GWB.
