Anyone else interested in PP laps later when it warms up?
is anyone planning on riding bikes on Saturday from GWB up to Supercross?  I'd be game.

I think I'll be driving up to race.

But, that written, the ride up is pretty nice.  And it's a 5mi ride to Suffern to take the train back if you'd rather not ride home.
thanks @mugwump .  I look forward to volunteering a bit and watching some of the elite racing as well.  Since the Elite riders will be ending near sundown, I'll likely be taking the train from Suffern back to the city.

Also for those looking to get a ride in on Saturday (and up to Supercross!), this will unfortunately be my last Saturday ride for some time to come.  I did a "soft" exit from NYC in December 2016 when I moved to Houston, but as my then girlfriend and now wife was still living in Manhattan, it provided me the opportunity to ride and race with Kissena's over the past two years.  It's been a blast for sure.  However, this time the move is real :(  Janet and I will be moving to San Francisco the day after Thanksgiving.  I'll be leaving my trusty Focus at her parents house in Westchester and hopefully by the time we come back for a visit next spring, the Tappen Zee bike bridge will be complete.

Weather should be good for the ride, so looking forward for some folks joining me :)

Update: I didn't expect nature to dump 6 inches of snow on the ground last night, but hopefully the roads dry out today / tomorrow morning.
Giacomo and I will be meeting at 8:45am at GWB and then rolling to Rockland College.
I am not sure which is more crazy. Racing off cambers in several inches of snow or riding from NYC to watch people fall off their bikes in snow Ann’s mud.
Anyone planning on riding tomorrow morning? It looks like the rain is going to hold off until the afternoon.
@JohnPowell I'm down!
I’m in for I’m in for tomorrow
I’ll be at the BB at 8am

A quick PSA to anyone riding in the cold weather: make sure are rolling your tougher winter tires and inspect them to make sure they are in good condition. You don’t want to be on the side of the road in 30 degree weather trying to change a flat with freezing fingers. Nor will your teammates appreciate it if they’re shivering at the side of the road because someone decided to ride their lightweight race tires in the winter. It also goes without saying that you should carry a spare tube and CO2 or mini-pump. PSA is concluded. Thanks
Apologies in advance for the newbie question but where exactly is the standard BB meeting spot?
The meeting spot is at the entrance of the Brooklyn Bridge ( Brooklyn side).
Looks like it’s going to be warmer tomorrow morning, so I’m going to swap my workouts and do my long ride then. My Texas blood can’t handle this 30 degree nonsense.
Running 5mins late
Anyone riding Sunday morning? I haven’t been surrounded by bright orange helmets in a while.

I expect to be at the GWB by 9am.

Love to have a group.
Saturday’s group ride consisted of Robert, Josh, Nathaniel, Ricky and myself. Good ride in chilly weather. This was Nathaniel’s first group ride and he and josh learned the importance of having booties when temps are in the 30s.

If anyone has spare winter gear (size small) they are looking to loannot sell, I think we have some interested members
Very valuable lesson learned today. Finally regained feeling in my fingers and toes 😩. Will not be in attendance tomorrow😰.
Another nice day for a wormhole.  Would have been all alone had Marc Bertucco not happened along.

Who's up for Saturday GW's?

Sunday warmer but thunderstorms all morning.
I can finally turn my neck more than 45 deg, so count me in.
Brooklyn here. Will ride. Anyone keep me company from BB?
I'll be at GWB at 9:00.

See y’all at
Piermont - going straight 9W
Looks like we'll get a window with no rain Saturday morning and some mild temps. I haven't ridden outside in what feels like ages!
8am at BB?
SATURDAY! 9am GWB Jersey Side. All welcome, there will be a slow group and a fast group on the way back.
not optimistic....company holiday party tonight

Me too,
No go for me. Enjoy!
Ricky, Robert, a new guy (sorry!  forgot your name), and myself were at the bridge.  The plan was to do the low road to Piermont, then come home on 9W.

Before we got to Tenafly, it started raining.  This was not in the forecast.  The forecast was for the possibility of rain at 10:30.  An hour earlier, in the big picture, is nothing.  When the group isn't prepared for the rain, and it's already long sleeve weather, it's a bigger deal.

I proposed I shorten the ride and take the group on a few new hills.

Just as we started the detour, Rob flatted.  Then, he flatted a second time before we got going.  And after a few miles, he flatted again.  (I'll bump the winter/rain thread(s) to get that read again).

We made it to Strictly, where it was tubes for everyone, Ricky picked up better gloves, new guy picked up an ass saver fender, and Rob topped off the pressure in his rear tire.

Good to be out, if, for no other reason, than we polished our hard man skills.

Hope everyone else made it back safely, and warmed up.

BTW, I'm not naming names, but peoples, for your own sake, as well as your friends, retire the racing tires for the winter.  There is certainly a debate as to what tires are best, and you can read some of that on the winter riding thread, but 320tpi cotton/poly casing with thin, soft rubber tread is not a good idea in the winter.
