Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

That confirms what I've always thought : cx riders are nuts.

Given the situation outside, I guess it's high time I put the studded Nokias on my MTB...
A look at the weather shows that Saturday has potential. I expect it will still be very wet and could be very messy but what the hell else do you have to do on New Year's Day? I mean if there are any Kissenas who, like, "do brunch" on NYD I'm leaving the club. Or those people need to leave.
By now you are laughing hysterically, I'm sure. That and cursing yourself for actually reading another one of my entries.
But anyway funnel that self-loathing into a lovely first day of 2011 ride around lovely Bergen and Rockland Counties. I'm sure we can come across a bunch of pot hole strewn and snow damaged government roads to elevate the fun! There will be moments when we go fast and probably some moments when we go slow. Other than that I can't tell you much in advance. But you will be taking advantage of enjoying my wonderful company before I split to Texas for a while. Who could pass THAT up? Not me.
Tentative is 9AM GWB Jersey side. Unless of course I get a date or a job for NYE. Neither of which seem to have a snowball's chance in Hell of actually occuring.

Peace All,

Keith
"I mean if there are any Kissenas who, like, "do brunch" on NYD I'm leaving the club. Or those people need to leave."

hahaha! The bar across from me has chalkboard signs; one of which often says "Brunch is for a-holes". Seriously, messengers eat brunch now! :-P

Anyway, I'm down for riding. Gotta destroy the new frame asap. I'd be willing to push it to ten tho. Might attempt to go out for a few.
lol

Brunch is certainly pretty high on my list of lame institutions

"hey . . . i know you're hung over right now. you know what would make you feel better? skipping the 3 extra hours of sleep you need so you can wait in line for an hour to pay $16 for eggs . . . yeah!"

as for the NYD ride, i may still be drinking at 9.

that said, i am done with school for a month, so you will be seeing me out in the colors on the weekends!
I expect to be there.

It will be messy.
Was I able to convince a 10am GWB, or you guys still shooting for 9? Either way, don't wait for me. If I ain't there, I ain't coming.
I will be at GWB around 11AM. Leaving Wburg around 10 BUT CALL ME IN THE MORNING TO CONFIRM. Danny boy (The Russian) whined about the early start and I'm a pushover so I caved. So as of now it's 11AM for me. There is no plan other than to ride bikes and probably get dirty.

Perfect. Hopefully the commie pinko will be hungover enough that we will be able to beat him up a hill. Or is he doing brunch in the morning? jejejejejeje

See you at GWB at 11. (unless you're going over the hipster high road. In which case I'll see you at 10)
I'll be there at 9am. That was the plan, and I'm sticking to it.

Dan is a whiner.

Folks. So long as it's not raining, the ride is on. 9am Sunday 1/2/11 at the GW Bridge. The regular route. I intend to go to Rockland Lake and back.

Rode at 9am this morning. The roads are much better in Jersey. Wet, yes, a bit narrower thanks to the snow, but clear.

see you sunday.

JP
L.I.E. service road was nice and clear. Wet sometimes. Still some problematic spots in Queens with the snow being thrown on the road, mostly by parked automobilists. So nice to ride outside after several indoor sessions!
I think I'll be at the start at 9am regardless of rain.

ready to ride,

JP
It was wet and messy, but warm and very few drivers and fewer cyclists were out. Patrick, Marc, John, James and I were joined by stagaires Todd and Shari. Rode low to Sparkill and then went around Clausland via Bradley and then off to Schuyler to Mountainview, Christian Herald, and north to the end of Rockland Lake. Climbed Rockland, dropped to Nyack, rode through Piermont, up tallman to 9W and a nice rumble home on 9W. The grit was Pro, so was the fatigue.

next week, be there.
I must remember to forgo the electrolytes in my water when I ride after the roads are salted. ;)
I needed a toothbrush to get out the grit caught in my teeth.

Happy to see that most every weekend since cross season has closed out, that there has been at least one Kissena group ride for people to consider.

While I do appreciate that other club members are putting the word out for their own rides on the weekends at other times, I hope that this winter, there will always be the 9am Kissena club ride on Sundays.

This way, those that need to plan their weekend rides weeks in advance can do so with confidence knowing that there will be at least one Kissena rider ready to lead the Sunday ride for the next few months.
"stagaires"'? Was it Todd Brilliant? Rode with him twice in December, 95 and 97 miles from Forest Hills, so I think twice when it gets really cold...
Anyone riding from the GWB tomorrow 1/8 and/or 1/9?
Marc,
Sunday at 9am is a given. Everybody is in, right? !

Saturday I haven't committed because I couldn't tell what the story was on both the street cleaning and the impending snowfall. Right now (10:45pm 1/7/11), weather.com is reporting 50% chance of snow by 1pm. Seems to mean it will be good to get out in the morning.

JP
I will be out for the Sunday ride - does anyone want to meet at bklyn bridge?

Also, I will be in prospect park tomorrow (saturday) from 830-1030 and would love company. No specific plans.
I'm in for 1/9/11. Provided it doesn't snow tonight, I'll be at the jersey side of the GWB at 9am. If it does, I might go anyways.

For road conditions, see the separate posting.

JP
I'm down as long as the road's dry.
As an alternative...and I'm not sure I'd be down with this...but there is lots of nice snow covered grass in my neck of the woods, including a large fenced in area enough for like 3 ball fields, that is host only to the occasional dog walker. It could be a good time to bring out the cross bikes again and work on bumping drills, for example. The snow is not that deep right now...so definitely rideable.
I'm down for a ride from the GWB at 9.
I'm not going to be able to make it out there. I will be in Prospect Park around 9:30 for some loops. I'd love some company. The roads were clear today.
mis-set my alarm and slept through all of my many group ride options:angry:

i just started riding rollers again (as opposed to the trainer) and i'm quite enjoying them - pumped out a good 1:45 workout while watching

on netflix and listening to iTunes country radio

good enough times!

how was it outside today?
Any plans for a long ride this Saturday 1/15?
I'm going to there on Sunday 1/16/11. Should be fun.

Looks like it is going to be a cold one this weekend. High of 32 and Low of 16 on Sunday.
Tito - when\where for Saturday 1/15 ? I was planning on doing a long-ish round of prospect laps Saturday and the group ride on Sunday.
I am game if you or anyone else wants to meet up on Saturday
