Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

I'll be there.
I was there.

My legs weren't.

Last week was the third week of a three-week block of training.  It was going to be 14 hours, 15 hours, and then 16 hours.  But my body wasn't having it.  Maybe I picked up a virus from my daughter, maybe my body just wasn't up to it.  When I got to the bridge, the sensations weren't good.  If there had been riding companions, I would have pushed through the emptiness and come home, spent, ready to relax.

As it was, I rode for a few minutes in Fort Lee, turned around, and came home spent.
Sunday looks like a good day for a group ride. The race season is fast approaching. Come out and get used to riding in a pack again. We can work on pacelines and other skills
Yes, Yes, Yes.

Come on out and play on two wheels.   We all need the skills work, we all need to get back to riding fast and close with other people.
I'll be there.

the GWB bike/walk path was closed most of this morning because of ice (and a good chunk of last sunday afternoon, too, due to 'police activity'). warmer tomorrow morning but check here in the AM: https://twitter.com/PANYNJ_GWB

According to the PA email alerts I get, it's open as of 4:21 pm.

I went to Westchester today.  The roads are in terrible condition.

Sunday was a sunny and dry day with more wind than expected. Eight Kissenistas set a strong pace. Jeff, Mark, Alex, Jonathan, James, JP, John M., and I rolled out on the low road. Conversations about JP’s tactic talk and upcoming race est we’re had. Jonathan, James, JP and I climbed over Clausland Mountain Road while the rest grabbed a coffee in Piermont. A rotating paceline kept the pace brisk into the headwind on the way back.
Saturday Cunningham 1pm anyone? Late start as I have kids duties in the morning.

Mountain biking but I could also take the dust out of the cross bike if a cyclocross brother is coming.

For those of you not riding on the trials I am planning on riding up to the Orchards Saturday. Will meet at 9am at GWB.
I’ll join you , be nice to me on the hills😢
I'll be there at the GW
I'll be there at the GW
Welcome back.
I am planning on joining from Brooklyn -- might depend a bit on Strada/Sleep/Weather, but so far hoping to join.
  • 8 am BB
  • 9 am GWB
@mugwump thanks JP!
I'm gonna do my best to join. But Nigel, be kind!

I turned around in Piermont, crew was looking sharp on their way to the orchards
The group ride to the Orchards was great. We contested sprints and did some solid climbing. Eloy gave me Maui pointers before he turned off at Piermont. Nigel brought his Florida fitness and rocketed up the climbs. Jeff, Mark and Adam put in a monster 100 miles. I clocked 63 miles but set a tempo like a metronome in an attempt to crush Nigel's soul... or maybe it was just to build fitness. Your pick.

We didn't take pretty pictures
I'll be out tomorrow.  9am at GWB.

Dang!  love to go but either I have to head back pretty much at the start, or not go at all.

Sorry Greg.  The warm weather, even if it's wet, should make for good riding.
@PatrickGrehan crushed my soul indeed. Note to self: don't let Patrick go to the front on the climbs. Lesson learned.
In its natural habitat
Quick spin in the wet to Shirley Chisholm this morning , really love this place

I met up with @GregHoge around 9:45. We opted to do a Bradley Tweed run with a possible pitstop around Piermont.

It had just started drizzling, but it let up until we hit the suburbs around 9W.

Unfortunately, the rain became a bit more intense, so things got soggy and cold. On the way back, we got hit by the post-rain wind. Still had a good time getting some climbing in and being outside in general.

I was held up getting to the GWB. Didn’t realize there was a 5K on in Washington Heights featuring a guest speaker.

I'll be at the GWB at 9 tomorrow (sunday March 13), roll at 9:10.
And yes, I'll be there 9am Daylight Saving time.
Met up with Andy Da Silva (ex-Kissena) at the GWB.

Because of the cold (it was 23 when I rolled out), we skipped the traditional climbs of Bradley, Old Mountain, Rockland Lake, Tweed, etc, to go what I took to be a flatter route out to the Orchard. Or not. 4500' of climbing. I dropped Andy off at his in-laws in Hillsdale.

Very few cyclists out. The worst conditions were on the GWB, which was clear, but covered in their salt melting stuff. Some ice on the roads, but mostly the snow stayed on the grass and in the woods.

Hit the trails at Edgewood oaks , very cold , very pretty , had the place to myself
Join us for a ride on the dirt/gravel roads near Garrison NY this Sunday the 20th!

The temperatures will be in the 50s and the good times will be plentiful.

The intent is to start riding at 9am. There are several people (mark T., Patrick, Eloy?, others?) driving up so post on the forum if you are in the need of a ride. Meet at the Garrison train station so we can ride at 9. The train to Garrison arrives at 8:05 or 9:05. If taking the later train let us know and we will wait for you.

The course will follow's Eloy's 2020 variation on the original ROAM course. Load this route to your computer:

While you'll be most comfortable on a Gravel or Cyclocross bike, as noted above you can join with a road bike with wide tires. There will be opportunities of grab food and refill your water bottles.

Respond to this post on the Group Ride thread so we have an idea of who is going.
