Group Ride (Sat & Sun)

Great ride, JP! Just the right distance to shake off the rust. Always learning something new when riding with you.

Looking forward to more rides - and hopefully keeping some consistency outdoors through the winter.

THIS SATURDAY IS THE HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP!

Come out and win the coveted 1960s bowling trophy!  There will be coffee and donuts - it's your call when you consume them.

BB @ 8am
GWB @ 9am

As always we will be climbing Alpine and the fastest time for the day will be crowned the champion.
I'm out of town this weekend so I unfortunately cannot attend. But I can confirm, the trophy, much like the carpet, really ties whatever room it's in together
It looks like we're expecting some rain tomorrow morning.  The Hill Climb Champs will be moved to Sunday so we aren't out riding in cold, wet weather.

Same time.  Same place.

What?

I was all set to hardman it.

(not kidding)
Hill Climb Champs!

who is meeting me at the GWB at 9am?

I'll be driving up with the donuts and cawfee and most importantly the trophy!

Will mostly likely add on a few extra miles at z1/2.
Sadly I can’t make it, good luck!!!
I'll be at GWB at 9.
I will also be at GWB at 9
Bb at 8
Or 8:05 😉
Keep Sunday open.

Looking like rain is possible by mid morning, but I'm hoping it's going to hold off until the afternoon.
looks like that the likelihood of rain at 11am on the Upper West Side is 52%.  While Weather Channel overestimates the likelihood of rain, the outdoor temp is also predicted to be 43f.

Seems like maybe it's best not to go out and get caught in the rain, unless it's just for several minutes.
Looking forward to joining you all for rides soon!
I needed to take some time off the bike to recharge and deal with life stuff, now it’s time to work back into shape!
Sunday 12/7.  ride at 9am.

Since today was a bit snowier than I was willing to ride long in, I'm looking to ride long tomorrow.  Happy to do any route that takes 3-4 hours from the GWB.
Sunday 12/21 - Super Out of Shape Not Exaggerating Even a Tiny Bit Ride. Extremely easy out and back, GWB to Nyack.

8a GWB early bird but willing to move to 9a if everyone wants their beauty sleep.
I prefer 9a, but I can forgo some beauty sleep if that works better for the group.
8a NJ/GWB, easy ride up and down.
I can’t make this week sorry , as a suggestion
is it possible to maybe have the winter rides start at 9 GWB , I’m an early riser , but really don’t won’t to leave my house in the dark in sub zero temps , I’m sure it’s discouraging others also
just a thought.

Yep sorry all just my own fam schedule, don't let me deter you from a standard 9a ride!
Good times riding with JP on what I realized post-ride was the winter solstice.

Rode easy (but also still hard for me!) through low-low roads and hit up boxer donuts in Nyack to warm up. Rolled back on 9w with a little twist at the end.

I've been off the bike for quite a bit due to illnesses, family, work, holidays, and general laziness. So getting out on what turned out to be a warmer day was a great reminder of why I love bikes and friends.

Note: I forgot to pack full shoe covers but had toe covers. I stuffed two n94 masks over the top of my foot in the shoe and it kind of worked out great.
Using N94 masks to keep your toes warm is great hack

Cool shades Bro
FYI at least a few of us are planning to ride NYC Velo's Festive 5Boro ride and they're doing a group start from the shop this Saturday Jan 3rd at 6am. I'm planning to be there barring any family stuff that comes up. It'll be a swift kick in the pants with my current fitness, but hoping it'll be a jolly fun time regardless.

Who all is doing it?

It's an awesome challenge.  And the weather will make it more so.
Unfortunately looks like the trails are unrideable according to NYCV, postponed.

With that said anyone heading out tomorrow for an easy route somewhere, preferably with a pit stop for warm beverages?

I'll be at the GWB at 9am, looking for 3-4.5 hours, hoping to make the route a bit flatter than normal, and steady, probably avoid traditional north-south loop.  Stopping depends on who shows and how they feel.  Might not be easy though.

PRobably do the same for Sunday, but more closely to the traditional north-south loop.
