Not big plans, getting a clean clip in and jump off the start. I haven't done the new "closed" course, but I'm just going to whip it the first couple laps until I'm near the front, hopefully. What gearing you running? 48x14?

5. dress warm&dry.

hey guys - FWIW Sunny's is about 7 blocks from the race.

Also, from what I understand the race is on private property. But I'm not sure if that makes it more or less likely that it's OK to have a beer in a bag.

I plan to try.

Race Report:

RHC '12
Got to the line and pushed my way up front Dave V made his way up it was nice to have a friend up there with me. We took the neutral lap and I fought to stay on the torpedo golf cart's wheel making sure to to be on the front row.

2 rows of call ups put me 3 rows back. We had a count down this year so it was easy to anticipate the clip in.

We get started have to weave through people who arn't clipped in yet and then sprint to catch the lead group. It seams like there are about 30 people ahead of me all in a single file line. I'm not moving up at all. I didn't want to take two people on the turns felt like that might be dangerous and we were so strung out I felt like I couldn't pass on the straight always. But I'm still in the lead group so I just need to sit in and hold on.

I would guess I made it about 8 laps before I got dropped off the back. I dont really remember how it happened. At one point Alex Bremmer was taken out at the hair pin turn and we had to scatter around him so that might have been the point where the gap opened and I couldn't close it.

With a group of four (Francisco from Rapha and Nate T. TA guy from NY Velocity) at the halfway point starting to feel good again pulling trying to catch back on but now I can see the field is getting some time on us and I'm worried about getting lapped.

A group of about 10 riders latch on to our group. I'm not pumped about this so at turn 6 knowing there was a nasty nasty cross wind I drilled it to draw out the strong guys of the group. It worked we dropped 3 guys off the back there but Bremmer and Ariel came flying around me to get a nice gap on our group.

I tried to bridge up twice getting about 12 feet from Bremmer and Ariel. Then would get swallowed up by my group of 5. We traded pulls till the end and came around the hair pin to the finish line launched and finished behind Nate. I have no idea where I finished I would be happy if I finished top 20 but my guess I will be mid 30's.

This is a fast race and the caliber of riders is getting scary. Thanks to everyone who came out and cheered! I could hear you guys the whole way.

Evan from BH took third, second ? Dan took first.


Rumor has it Aaron Bradford (Cyclocross Single Speed National Champ) took second but I can't confirm that is true.

I can see how once it strung out moving up would feel impossible if you weren't already in the top 10-15 riders.

We were standing in the chicane section just down from the start finish. The first lap was unbelievably fast. You could barely see who was coming by. By the end of that lap it was curtains for probably 2/3 of the field.

It was really fun to watch.
