Prospect Park Weekday Morning Training

My garmin says avg temp of 46.

@Bruce - I don't know what you were thinking with a short sleeve jersey on.
I looked really good.
Had an early client meeting today so I headed out for solo laps at 5am. Phone said it was 48°, TV said it was 50°. Bib shorts, long sleeve base layer, short sleeve jersey, summer gloves, summer socks, and one bottle full of lukewarm water... runny nose and very frozen toes, but otherwise pretty good. Totally forgot my new-ish shoes are far more ventilated than the ones I wore last winter. Can't wait to slip into those cozy neoprene shoe covers I ordered with just the right amount of team sock peeking out.

Caught @Bruce and others (nice to meet you!) on my last lap. Thanks for the pull!
Knickers, base layer, short sleeve jersey, summer gloves.  Though I did wonder if I could ride with my quilt wrapped around me.

Thierry, Jay and I did sprints in the dark.  Erika rode half a lap with us as she finished up some laps.
What's up with that 30mph headwind?  That's the wind, I think, that stays until May.

I have a temperature chart I've made over the years, showing me what I can wear for what temps.  It makes things much easier at 5:20 am with half-lidded eyes.
Care to share the chart?
I posted my list of temps and kit list that works for me in the Winter Riding thread.

I went through that discussion a little bit and there's already some excellent material, including some great posts by Jules, and a PDF by JP.
Kayt, sorry I didn't make it to GAP this am. Could NOT drag my sorry self out of bed. Hope there were some others out there?

Great job with the 3-minute intervals yesterday! Hard to breathe that cold air.
I was out but was late to GAP and didn't see anyone. Did 30/30s by myself and marveled at that crazy huge moon. Did anyone else see it?
@ericmehlenbeck-- ain't no thing! And you good job on the intervals-- looking forward to racing (behind you) on Sat.

I was a little late myself this am (sorry to have missed you @jim_nelson) because I had to stop and take in that moon. That was something.

Saw @Bruce TT past GAP (though in true gentlemanly form he said hello), and chatted with @Thierry on his sparkling blue Bianchi between sprints--my favorite drill of all.
I was at GAP until just after 6 and rolled solo.
Nice to see you this AM, Kayt.  Yeah, I was right in the middle of a TT lap otherwise I would have pulled over but I was worried my legs wouldn't work again if I did.  I hoped to catch up to you when I slowed down, but you were going characteristically fast.
Thierry's Bianchi is definitely a looker.

What's going on along Center Drive?  Lots of activity, fencing and lights keeping the racoons away.

I cut through Center drive on Tuesday and it was filled with semis.  Looked like a staging ground for Convoy II

Getting ready for this.

Oh snap
Oh. We're going.

Anyone who misses a glaring typo in their press release can't "prohibt" me from bringing my bike!

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS/ACTIONS ARE PROHIBTED AT THE EVENT:

Bicycles or Scooters
anyone up for some fast pace laps tomorrow at 6am?
Welcome aboard Jeff!  There's a training schedule for Prospect Park in the AM, and someone's always up for it.
I'll be out in the morning with the cx bike if anyone wants to join. 6am at GAP.
Heya Jeff, GAP (inside the park) @ 6am.  Roll out by 6:05 latest.

Structured training regiments from Coach Ragot has ended with the road season, but this is the last schedule posted:

Tuesday Sprints

Wednesday 2 lap TT

Thursday Paceline (not kiling it)

Ride and Race on the Weekends.

I plan on the sprints (3 per lap) but will be doing a warmup lap first.  See you there.
Looking forward to tomorrow, @Jim
awesome. thanks guys. so you out there tomorrow morning.
Wow! Big crowd today; the newest (Jeff) member, oldest (tenure) member (Club Champ Ragot) and everyone in between.

Yang & I peeled off to suffer, Kayt & Jim headed for secret CX course #7 and we ran into Ingrid just before leaving.

Fingers still numb, lungs still oozing pain juice...
It's getting coooold out there.  Wore the new pro tech jacket with just a baselayer underneath and was very comfortable once warmed up.  Will have to experiment with gloves since the summer ones are too thin and the new winter ones I just got seem a little overkill.  Knee warmers and fleece bibs are the shizzles, don't know how you guys are still rocking shorts!

See you cats out there tomorrow.
Fleece bibs are just too warm.
Anaerobic intervals are just so much fun. But I didn't realize how chilly I was until I got home...
Wow.  Saw 198 on my HRM this morning.  No wonder it hurt so bad...

This makes total sense.

[insert winky face here]
fleece bibs for 30degrees and below. not for upper 40s. fingers were chilly, that's all.
Nice to see everyone this morning, and to meet Jeff.  Jeff and I managed a couple of sprints after Pat inspired and shamed us.  Both work equally well to get me out of my saddle.

And thus it begins.  I have winter clothing hanging, drying in my bathroom.  I will now have one piece of clothing or another hanging somewhere in my apartment until April.

Too bad i missed this morning's ride - i'll be at Grand Army entrance at 6am tomorrow morning if anyone's game. let me know!
BTW- Last fall i rode with sugoi windbreakerie type socks (i'm sure they have a proper name) - they go over your real socks and they rocked...till I lost one. hope to catch someone out there!

I'll be there tomorrow.
I'll be there also.
