Prospect Park Weekday Morning Training

Sorry guys, I opted for some much needed sleep this morning. Also, I think I broke my toe fumbling toward the baby last night so I'm wearing my CX shoes around the office... so I've got that going for me.
Damn, sorry to hear about the toe.  That's a mean stub in the middle of the night!  I imagine furniture getting hulk-smashed after something like that.
But, it does get you wearing CX shoes in the office, which I have no doubt you were trying to figure out how to do with a good excuse.  CX on the horizon. . .
Great to be out early , it's probably been almost a year , hung on to the peloton for an hour before Murray and Tony Taylor blew up the group
I'll be back next week
Good times this morning with Mark, Scott K, Jim. Spied both Avi and Jeff Condon doing their own thing.

I broke off to do some intervals and then broke that off to offer a hearty welcome back to David Lipscomb who is out of the woods, so to speak and back on his bike.
Hot as balls out.
Hey Jules, thanks for the mention but that was not me, but some look alike. I copped out and rode the trainer indoors with air conditioning
I'll be out again tomorrow morning getting 4 - 5 laps in, perhaps a steamy / foggy morning to look forward to.
Boy I miss training in the morning with ya'll.

Gadzooks! A doppelgänger.
speaking of which where is Owens these days?
Yo AM CX BAMFs! Mon 6AM SKILLZ & DRILLZ meetup @ GAP, ride 2 Parkside Parking Lot.
It was lonely out there, just me, the guy sleeping on a piece of cardboard and rabbits were there for CX practice this morning. I was hardening my taint with dismount/remount practice, jumping barriers and trying to find the point where my new tires start to lose grip on turns. Good sweaty fun.

I would love some teammates for the next one. Let me know what day of the week works for skills practice in the AM?
Folks, please don't put riders ability to use Prospect Park in jeopardy by either riding in the pedestrian lanes or by riding backwards.

Similarly please don't do violate park rules while WEARING CLUB KIT

Thank you,

Jules

I'll be out Tuesday am. Will wait at GAP at 6 - 6:05am
Hey Lt Dan, I would try to meet you any morning next week ~ 6am for skills, drills practice with rabbits and sleepy guy. Even this Friday could work.
Avi,

Lets try for next Monday again. 6AM at GAP, remember to wear your fredly best (we shouldn't be doing this in our KCC kit)
So I rode naked this morning. (no, not that way, come on guys get your minds out of the gutter) It was sort of unintentional, but I rode without headphones, computer, watch, and I kind of surprised myself leaving without a helmet.

It was surprisingly freeing. I had no reason to look at my stem, no reason to tune out the sounds around me, and I could feel the wind in my hair. It was nice to have a naked ride, and just be totally in the moment. Definitely recommend these for folks who are feeling that mid seasons slump, just go for a ride, skip some training and just enjoy the wheels spinning beneath you and the breeze on your face. It is a nice reminder of why we all love to ride.
yes!
K, hope to be make it tmw
shall be doing some easy laps tomorrow morning, will be at GAP about 6:15 if anyone wants to join
Heavy rains are predicted for tomorrow morning.
I did some threshold work today in Prospect and saw a group gathering at the lights near the skating rink, people with the same t-shirts, several photographers.  On one of the laps, I came cranking through to everyone's cheers and applause, and then realized I was riding next to a guy with one arm, on a time trial bike.

On the next lap, there was a guy with a metal leg, and another guy on a super nice mountain bike, with a metal arm.

I'm pretty sure I was riding with the Team USA gold medalists from the Parapan Am Games

I think I recognize one of them.  They were in red and dark blue kit.  Once I realized the cheering was not for me (very saddened by that), I tried to move over and get out of the way of the photogs, but have to say, that's against my racing nature.

Did anyone else see that group out there?  Was it these guys?
Wish I had know who it was, it would have increased the awesomeness of it.

It made me remember that the 3 metal pins in my hip are nothing more than having a bad hair day compared to some.
They were wounded veterans being filmed for TV. Totally awesome.

I believe they were part of NBC's wounded warriors program and not the group you posted above.
That's pretty cool, too!  They had nice bikes and were cranking hard.
Would be good to have cheering crowds and photographers at least once a week.
Anyone up for some evening spinning tonight in prospect park? I'm thinking 7:30-7:45 meet at GAP, 45 - 60 min. Shoot me a text, 917-960-0884
Anyone interested in laps and coffee tomorrow (Thursday) morning?  6am GAP and 7am Cafe Grumpy.
I can join for laps tomorrow morning, but I'll have to skip the coffee.
Will make every effort. Hopefully can squeeze in coffee to follow, but Cafe Grumpy will be my carrot on a stick.
Or donut plant was just suggested by Jeff! Yum.
I'm likely to be out but also need to skip the coffee.
Kissena's rolling 8 deep in prospect?!  Thats the first time I've seen that.
Sweet.
