my racing bikes are my commuter bikes.  i don't have to lock my bike up outside at work, so why would i buy a separate beater bike to ride round trip 2+ hours?  more enjoyable to ride the good stuff

Well...I somehow....someway...managed to bend an aluminum seatpost.  Here is the kicker...it's bent forward...not backward.  I pulled it from the frame to confirm = kinked.  I'll ride it till the replacement arrives.

I believe the replacement for that frame arrived in the early 90s?

Let me get this straight.  The pads that are better for city braking were switched out for lesser pads because of durability.

I've got a SRAM Rival 172.5 110mm BCD in silver.  You'll need to source rings.

@Scott Kuhlke why do you need the crank? Are you building up a bike for you fiancée?

 Thats right folks, Scott just got engaged! Congratulations! Maybe strange to bring it up in this thread but didn’t know where else to post and wanted to share with the club. 

@PatrickGrehan , not for her bike, but thanks for thinking that way and thanks for the note! Yes, officially engaged now.  More time spent in NY, and who knows, may be back full time by end of the year.

Those bikes do look great.

if you do a ton of true technical crits, I guess a high bottom bracket makes sense.

Otherwise, I can't imagine how a road cyclist benefits from a high bottom bracket. a other than red hook, there aren't any technical crits in the NYC area.

@Scott Kuhlke  as my Rival crank is silver, hooking it up to a stages isn't necessarily the most attractive, as I'm pretty sure the only Stages Rival cranks are black anodized.

^the idea that moving up in the final is a matter of a good handling bike is so beautifully fantastic. Like riding a unicorn rainbow or some such.
