     I actually have three cases.  A Trico iron case (which I want to sell), a Pika Packworks, and a Gavilan BFF.  All are available to borrow (or rent, I suppose)

IMO, the only thing you need for the bike is to put thru-axles back into place when you pack the bike.  Or spare thru-axles if you have the Mavic system or the RAT.  I have plastic axles I put into my frame when using  these travel cases.  THey're designed for quick releases, but I'd think any plastic axle that was used to pack a bike would do.  I'd bet bike shops would have some for disc-brake bikes.

I take it almost any bike case would do. 

You just need some small tube that can fit between the legs of the fork and between the seatstays.

The length of said tube would matter, likely you need one that is 100 mm (front) and another 142 mm (rear).

The diameter of the tube wont matter too much, but ideally is big enough so you can fit the axles to keep the axles in frame, which would then keep the tubes in place.

You can probably make these from a piece of plastic tubing from Lowe's or Home Depot.

I have an amazing bike case already that is for QR road bike: The scion aerocomfort 2.0 . It attaches the bike dropouts to the base of the case. In theory I think I should be able to adapt the existing mounts.

As for the rear axle, I would imagine something like the following might work although I can't find much more than this picture. 

yeah, that could work. The key is you want something that would prevent the seatstays and fork legs from folding/breaking if under pressure.

I would think you probably don't need a conversion piece for the front at all.  If you just pull the skewer, install the fork, reinstall the skewer, you should be ok.  There will be some vertical movement, but, as Eloy suggested, as long at the fork legs aren't bend inwards, they should be fine.

Free booties.

The blue Kissena booties are fleece; they're like putting a second pair of socks on.  there's a rear zipper.  The White/Orange/Blue are spandex and from our long ago relationship with Biemme; they were supposed to be aero, but now I think they're probably best at keeping your shoes a bit cleaner than they would be otherwise.  Don't know how much warmth they provide. No rear zipper.

planning on staying.  

I expect to be at the holiday party.  

@mugwump if no one else has claimed the blue booties, could I snag those from you? My shoe covers and the wide toe box of my sworks are not fans of one another.

Hey Kissena crew, I feel like it's time to actually own a track bike if I want to go in on outdoor velodrome and fixed gear racing more seriously this upcoming season. I've been surviving and practicing on loaners and a $200 bike from the bike jumble so far. 

Anyone here selling anything for around $1000 or can recommend anything around that price range? I really like the look of the Affinity Kissena, Specialized Langster, and Fuji Track Pro/Elite, but they're either not made anymore, not available used widely, or too expensive, so right now I'm looking at the Throne TRKLRD for $739 full build. It looks like a decent deal for an entry level bike but I don't know much about Throne really or if that price point is way too low to be decent. I would upgrade pedals, saddle and tires. Thanks for help!

@DavidVibert  A few things.

* I think the three bikes you mentioned are excellent.  Felt and Giant seem to have 'entry level' track bikes as well.

* In terms of used, have you put a search on eBay?  

* Have you gone to the Kissena Velodrome FaceBook page?  Maybe post there and see if anyone is selling.

* I think I picked up the Throne the other day.  It seemed really heavy.  

* Depending on how much bike stuff you have, you might be better off building from parts.  when I got a track frame, I already had a seatpost, saddle, bars, stem, front wheel (you can get a slow release to convert a road wheel to track), bottom bracket, and pedals in a storage box, so I pretty much only needed a rear wheel and crankset.  

#radical velo sells Dolan track frames for pretty cheap.  If you fit them.

This is what my Dolan Precursa looks like built up (with the Geneva velodrome as scenery). One thing to note: it is a pure track bike in that there is no place to install a brake. If you plan on using it sometimes on the roads, as a commuter or whatnot, then get one with a fork that accepts a brake.

Sorry I missed this post but I have been a bit busy as of late: work, family, riding, and holiday prep...

Anyway, a few places to look are, as mentioned, the Kissena Velodrome Facebook group, the Buying and Selling Fixie's Gear/Parts NYC Facebook group, and the ¡¡ BUYING and SELLING TRACK CYCLING parts !! Facebook group (although harder to get in, and it is global so you'll see quite a few posts from Europe). These are all good sources for frames and/or complete bikes. This year I know of two people who scored some decent bikes off of these locations. You might have to keep sifting through for a few weeks to find something.
