A friend of mine does powder coating among other things. He sandblasted and powder coated two frames for me as well as countless other parts for me and my friends. He does a great job, has any color you want and get's it done within a week.
He charges 150 $ a frame, though if more then 4 of you guys have a frame to be powder coated he will do it for 115 as sort of a "group order"

can one even powder coat a non-metallic object?

Just metal, nope it would be impossible. If you could somehow even get a charge on carbon fiber the drying oven would melt it

Hey Wojciech - Do either you or your friend have any photos of bike frames that he's done? I ask because I have a few friends that are framebuilders who I know would be very interested in good, cheap powdercoaters but would probably want to see images of bike-specific work.

I'm looking to invest in a new wheelset for my soon-to-arrive Spooky road frame, something that's good for racing hilly courses (i.e., pretty light), durable, and reasonable to maintain.

Hed's C2 rims seem to be really nice on-paper and they get good reviews. In Hed's own Ardennes format, they come in lots of combinations (including the new tubular option), but I'm not sure about the Hed Sonic hubs (whether the ceramic or steel bearing variety). I might rather mate the rims to Chris King's r45 hubs, Industry 9's road hubs, or even Dura-Ace hubs.

Anyone have any opinion about which C2 rim build might be a little better than the rest? Is it better to stick to the factory wheelset, or no?

Comments/recommendations on spoke count and lacing patterns of interest as well.

I wanted to make the club aware that our sponsor Lake sells a cycling specific team bag that is worth a look. Surprised they have a team bag? You should be. Lake doesn't list it on their web site nor was it on the team price list. I needed a bag to cart all my stuff to out of town races and remembered seeing this bag on the lake website last year before Veltec bought them up, so I asked Jeff about it during our last Lake purchase. 

I love this bag. This is a well designed, sturdy duffle that was built for cyclists. It has a spacious main compartment, two large zippered compartments that easily fit shoes or other stuff, a mesh compartment that securely holds my rudy helmet, 4 water bottle compartments, a small towel in a compartment, a soft zippered compartment for sunglasses, and a handful of other zippered pockets. To top it off there is a rollout changing mat to keep your feet clean. It feels decadent. 

You can carry the bag by regular duffle handles, a comfortable shoulder strap or even hidden backpack straps. I haven't used the backpack straps yet, but they seem handy if you are riding to a race. I haven't tried it but, I suspect the water bottles would risk falling out of their holders if the bag is used as a backpack even though they are held in by elastic. 

The bag retails for $99 and the team discount is $55. Is the ability to securely carry your helmet etc., worth the extra cost compared to a plain duffle bag or backpack? You decide. For me it is money well spent because I can put all my stuff in one bag the night before a race and am less likely to forget something crucial. 

Why doesn't Veltec  advertise the bag? I have no idea. Maybe someone at Veltec believes that Lake should only sell shoes. Whatever the reason, it is totally worth a look into if you are in the market for a cycling specific bag.

I've looked over the website and it appears all of the pricing is the same as it was in November, so I've attached the excel list. If it doesn't work for you, email me and I'll let you know how much our discount is on anything you're interested in. It's usually around 42% off.

I know a lot of people are wanting Lake shoes and some of the styles/colors are out of stock in various sizes. However, many of those will be available in mid-April.
