JP, you have experience with lots of wheels, could you chime in here and venture an opinion for John about the race/training worthiness of these wheels?

I'm not a good judge cuz I tend to "save" things for "special" occasions. Obsessively so. You guys would be sort of shocked at the equipment that I train/race on I think. My sense is that it depends on what is currently in your wheelhouse. For me, these were/are my nicest wheels, so I would save them strictly for out of town racing. But a lot of guys have Zipp 404 tubulars, and so these aluminum clinchers would slot in perfectly as local race wheels.

I think they are durable enough for training too, the only thing is that the paired aero spoke design, to be honest, makes them kind of a pain to true (although they come with a special tool to help on that end). But maybe JP will have some educated thoughts to share.

Marc. I looked them up and they're 190 grams (almost two sticks of butter!) lighter than the my regular Racelites. So like you said, best saved for racing. A very reliable wheel from my experience.

I don't see why these can't be used as a daily wheelset. The specifics of the set has changed year-to-year, but what it gets down to for me is that Trek sells these wheels with complete bikes, and I find Trek is pretty conservative with what they sell as OE spec.

I hear people are digging Lake shoes and I saw a posting on our boards about a discount, but I have wide feet and don't see any info on the Lake site about width. I heard that the Sidi Genius line yields a low stack-height but Sidi's idea of wide from my experience is a Winklepicker. Anyone with wide feet please weigh in here.

Normal lake is wider then a normal sidi, they do a wide as well. I have the wides in the cx236, dig them all around. I'm liking the boa laces a bit, and they're definitely lighter then the north waves I had.

I like my Descente stuff a lot (baselayers and arm/leg warmers, various accessories. Haven't had their tights or gloves) . Comfy like Craft, but seem more durable to boot. Most people vouch for the Lakes as well, fitting similar to Specialized I've heard (which I like).

I have Coldout gloves - make good cool weather / liner gloves.
Also, I have element gloves - they were good last night - a little cold to start, but as we went faster, my hands were great.

Selling a queen size futon, a cover, and a wooden L-frame. (sleeping is part of training, so it's gear)

It is a King Koil futon. It's a queen size. It is a futon that has coils in it. It's old, like 15 years, but it was only slept on regularly for the first maybe two years of its existence. It went from use, to storage for maybe three years. Then it was our sofa in our apartment on 109th street from 2001 to 2004, and since 2004, when we last moved, it has been hanging out in our apartment. Beth's mom, a picky sleeper, slept on it for a few nights this winter and said it was fine. There is a bit of sag to it in the middle of the seat portion, from sitting, when you look at it.

The cover is pretty standard cotton, color is royal blue. I'm going to wash it shortly.

The frame is an L-frame. Pretty easy to work. It is big. The right side arm, that is, the right when you're sitting on it, bowed at some point, and the frame could un-track itself. So we added some wood and now it tracks fine. The armrests are 20.5" tall. When it is folded up and against the wall, it is 46" from wall to the frontmost edge of the futon cushion and it is 35" from the floor to the top of the futon at the back of the L. The measurement from the outside of the armrest to the outside of the armrest is 84".

Looking for $100. If I don't hear from anyone in a day or so, it's going up on Craigslist.

Selling a brand new, never ridden 2010 Mavic Ksyrium SL clincher rear wheel. It came with my bike, but I already had a PowerTap rear wheel. It's much too nice a wheel to continue to sit around in my closet gathering dust or to be thrown in and out of wheel cars as a spare. Easton EC90SLX 1 1/8" fork for sale. New, never used, uncut, never built etc. ... They seem to be going for $200+ on ebay for same, used for cheaper. I would love to see $200 but if someone coughs up $175 I'll take it.

I have tried the Pro-V Shortsleeve Baselayer, wearing it with a summer jersey (I'm near San Diego, the temperatures vary between 45 and 78°according to the elevation and the time of day (riding up Mount Palomar tomorrow). I do recommend that baselayer. It looks nice, so I also wore it like a t-shirt.

I think Rich is going to handle the ordering for it this time. Everything is the same. You can email him what you want. I guess we should set a deadline, so he can then compile the list and send it in. It's the 14th, so I'm going to put out the 25th (a Friday) as the last day to get it to him. That way all the last minute orders can be added and the list can be sent to our rep the next week. Hopefully, another quick turn around puts you getting your stuff the first week or two of April.

I'm very confused about Lake's sizing chart:

My last two pairs of shoes have been Northwaves in size 41.5 - which Northwave says corresponds to a US size 9.

According to Lake's chart though, their 41.5 corresponds to USA size 7 1/2.

Moreover, I measured as per Lake's sizing chart instructions, and it says I should be ordering a 39.5, which it says corresponds to a USA size 5 1/2. That's like a 4th graders foot.

What is the problem? It seems to me their USA sizing is just wack, no?

Ryan, for what it's worth, I ride 44.5 in Lake, Specialized, Sidi, DMT. I think my old northwaves were 45s.

I have an older pair of lakes. they are euro 46 and US 11.5-12 (yes, that is what the tag says). I wear an 11 or 11.5 in most shoes.

I am going to try to find a place in the city with Lakes in stock to try some on. I will report back.

soul s4.0. 40mm aluminum clinchers. these were built with thicker bladed 3.2mm spokes as opposed to the normal 2.3 (xpert build in soul speak). front wheel was built around a new hub at the end of last season. 1790g with velo plugs iirc. campy splined 9/10. to go 11 you have to run a small spacer behind the cassette and possibly a spacer for dropout clearance. this is how my bike is setup. hurly burly, fairly aero and strong. $350

If you can afford the $200 each way to fly with your bike (no shit), this thing is indestructible.

I wouldn't worry about the veltec site saying it is out of stock. That doesn't get updated frequently and I don't think it is actually connected to any inventory system. order the item you want, chances are unless you're ordering a size 14 1/2 shoe they'll have it in stock.
