Welcome....
Happy to join up and meet more people who love cycling. I started riding a few years ago, did the nycc classic sig, and now getting back into riding after a shoulder injury. I enjoy on and off-road riding, and am interested in trying a cross race in the Fall. Live in downtown Manhattan and work for myself in a non 9-5 format. Hope to connect for CP laps, ideally post 6-am!

Welcome James and Susan!  @SusanShockett, make sure you follow the Kissena Women's Team thread!  I'm pretty new myself, but the ladies contingent is growing in numbers and enthusiasm.  Exciting!
@James - Nice riding with you the other week.
@Susan - Welcome, and get ready to kick ass with the ever growing women's squad!

Welcome Susan!

You GUYS, post photos!
Another member of the Kissena Family. This came over the twitter this morning.
WHERE ARE THESE SAMPLES OF WHICH YOU SPEAK?

I should have been on this weeks ago. I just use regular whey protein in
my smoothies. Bo-ring.

Hey everybody!

I just wanted to get onto the forums and introduce myself. I just finished my residency and moved to NYC from St. Louis (thank God), and I'm pumped to start riding and racing with Kissena.

I've been riding for about 2 years now, and I previously focused on being a tremendously mediocre triathlete until I realized that swimming and running are the worst. I haven't done many (any) bike races yet, but I'm excited to get more involved and figure all that out. I think I'm most apt to do some road racing, but I want to try it all. I signed up for GFNY and I can't wait for that.

Thanks for having me, and I can't wait to meet everyone. Anyone riding this Sunday morning?

here is a pic of me from my first (and now last) half ironman. I was happy to exit the water and getting back on the bike. I am now retired from swimming, since the feeling of drowning is not one that I enjoy so much.

Welcome Scott. Nice riding with you a couple of weeks ago.
Welcome Scott!
I'm glad to have you on board Scott. Welcome.
Welcome Scott! Good riding with you!
Welcome Scott! I almost drowned in my first tri, as well. The water was 62 degrees and all I could do was hyperventilate. Welcome to our club of landlubbers! Look forward to seeing you out on the road.
Welcome to Kissena, Scott!
Guess the new member ride didn't scare you off, after all.

good thing.
Welcome Scott! Hope to meet you on the road.

Welcome Scott!
Welcome Scott. Welcome aboard.
Thanks everybody. And Gwynna - Yes. Although I'm currently on the one bike limit in the small apartment. Maybe I could rent something.
Welcome! We're quite happy to accept all triathletes who have seen the light (even even a few who haven't ;)).

Oh, and since no one else has mentioned it yet, road racing season is drawing to a close. This means you'll want to learn how to race 'cross. Don't fight it, just say yes. Because #crossisboss.

Hi everyone!

Scott, thanks for reviving this thread - didn't see it earlier, but happy for a forum to introduce myself. I was on the new member ride a couple weeks ago and am really excited to start riding (and racing!) with Kissena.

I've been in NYC for almost a year now, but finally ponied up and bought myself a bike in July after missing cycling for too long. I've ridden on and off for a few years and still have my old bike out in Connecticut, where I ride a few weekends during the season. I also run a lot, but haven't done any tris because my swimming ability is somewhere in the doggie-paddle range.

And if anyone is doing some long rides this weekend, would love to join and meet some more people!
Welcome aboard Margaret!

Margaret,

Mosey over to the "Kissena Women's Team: thread as well as the "Group Ride (Sat & Sun)" thread.  Introduce yourself in the first.  Read through the second and declare your interest.  Our "traditional" is 9am at the GWB both days, but it's always best to rally a crew online first.
Welcome Margaret..
what a rad new member ride.  Welcome Margaret!

Welcome Margaret, and great seeing you hustle up that Clausland Hill like it was a speed bump.
Awesome to have you, Margaret! Looking forward to riding and racing with you!
Welcome Margaret!

Scott/Margaret make sure you make the time to read the manual, as it were.  Lots of good stuff in there.
