I just want to follow up on the new member thread. I was on the new member group ride two weekends ago. I am currently working downtown and moved back to new york two years ago.
Bike is like my first love. Still remember my first bike when I was five. Can't even ride it and I have to push he thing for 2 miles.
Anyhow, I have been riding on and off for three years. I have three track bikes and realized I am more endurance rider than a track sprinter. Switched to road bike last year and hopefully racing in the coming season.
I train in the central park twice to three time during the week day, so if anyone wants to do laps let me know.
Other than that I will be doing my second century next month and will have two half marathon coming up in the next three months. So if anyone would love to run or ride, please let me know.
Check out the Central Park Thursday night 7pm ride on Strava. Also, starting morning sessions (6am meetup) next week. Lastly, JP has a ride Fridays at 11am leaving Tavern on the Green. All good ways to connect to other Manhattanite Kissenas.

I was on the new member ride this past week and I would like to introduce myself. I started riding three years ago and started racing two years ago, currently I'm a noob cat 4 and enjoy the challenge and fun that comes with racing/cycling. I live in crown heights and ride in prospect park during the week and on Sundays do the 9w route.
If there are any skills and drill coming up, I would love to join! It looks like kcc is big into cross-I would love to train for that too but would need to modify my road bike if possible. Looking forward to meeting all of you on the road and looking forward to a great racing season!!
I'm the newest "new guy". I'm Jake and I'm happy to be joining such a great group of cycling folks! My wife and I moved from Boston a few months back and now live in Kew Gardens, which I will admit has been a very tough move from a cycling perspective (sad face). I'm looking forward to getting out on the roads with all of you, especially during these winter training months when everyone needs a training buddy to avoid clinical depression. I've been riding/racing since I got into cycling in college. I raced for a team the last few years in Boston, and to see me when I was a) skinnier and b) faster, click here.
I'd like to join the Kissena weekend group rides, but the idea of riding from Queens to GWB before actually starting a group ride sounds bonkers. So, any suggestions about where to park near GWB?
Thanks! Happy Holidays! And hope to meet a bunch of you on the road soon!
Oh SNAP !!! We landed Mr. Jolly... I suspect your decision has everything to do with my sales pitch on the Triangle ride....I must insist that you pursue any green jersey competitions this year for the obvious reason (please see the jpeg below) We also have Giant bicycles as a sponsor this year...Mr. Jolly in a green jersey on a Giant is just too good to pass up...I will now exit the forums before I scare you off....sincerely Yacks
There is great parking right across the GWB on 9w itself, and check out the wed night computrainer session thread if you're jonseing for some indoor companionship.
Charlie Issendorf has promised us an early seat on the Zwift wagon too, so hopefully we won't have to wait much longer on that.
In the meantime, keep working that wicahd weak left leg :P
I'd like to formally introduce myself. My name is Ilya Nikhamin, I'm the owner of Redbeard Bikes. My wife, Kasia Nikhamina, and I run this shop together. I've worked in bike shops since I was 14. This shop was almost an inevitability.
My friend joined Kissena in 2002 as a Junior, I remember going to early morning races with him and riding around the park in support, and reading JP's corner and thinking "Man, this guy has been around FOREVER! He must know everything..." I'm a fairly recreational rider, but have done a couple 150+ mile rides and have raced on the track a bit.
Redbeard Bikes specializes in bike fittings. The whole business is built around this (check out our site for more (site is a work in progress). We try to offer a great, nonjudgmental, experience for cyclists of all levels and try to cater to all those interested in bikes.
I'm excited about being Kissena's shop sponsor for 2015. I would like to be a useful resource for the club. Redbeard is here for you. Please feel free to give us feedback, suggestions, requests, advice, anything that you think will make things better for all of us.
Stop by and say hi. I'll try to remember all your names .
