My name's Dave, too. I'm one race from my upgrade to Cat 4 and holding, thanks to my intimate encounter with the Floyd Bennett Field tarmac a couple weeks ago. I am pretty new to all of this - never raced until 2 years ago, in fact, never really even rode much beyond uber-recreational spins around town (can recreational anything be "uber"? kinda like saying a ride around prospect park is "epic") until a couple of years ago when a friend convinced me to buy a road bike.

I'm fairly obsessed at this point. I raced and completed Battenkill for the first time earlier this month, and am very proud of it. I finished 34th out of 36 who finished (15 others DNF), and as another Kissena once said to me - not last is the new first. Also, since those 15 others DNF, fuck it, I'm calling that "mid-pack." I'm getting a faster bike with real wheels. I have a wife and 2 pretty cool kids who appease me by watching La Fleche Wallonne and other spring classics. Jens Voigt is a hero, as is John Malcolmson. That dude is a beast, even in that silly purple jersey.

My name's John Sanderson. I joined Kissena last spring and have learned a LOT! I do as many races as I can get up early enough for, but merely being on a bike is enough for me.

This is me in retro mode at the end of the second day -- after 80 miles in the mountains -- of 4 day tour through the Alleghenies last October. It rained half the time.

These frames ride flawlessly. It is a shame they stopped making them.

Mike Mancuso, I moved to NYC in 2008 from Philly and joined Kissena in early 2009, raced a half a dozen races that year, then sold everything to go back to school and took a hiatus for almost a year. Ended up getting fat and decided I needed to get my ass back in shape (see fat me after year hiatus below with Evie Stevens)

I just rejoined last night and am excited to be back in the mix. I've been riding a ton the last year and really finding my form(and have shed some of that belly too), though I still go slow uphill, I used to go very very slow. Hoping to mix it up in some cross races this year and make some more friends on the bike.

Yo! Welcome back Mike!

Hi everyone, I'm Murray Hardie. I moved back to NY about two years ago after a 6 year six year stint in several frozen northern/midwest states where I got very fat and very lazy. Originally from London I started riding as a kid but took it up seriously and with an uncontrollable passion about a year ago. My first adventure after 4 months on the bike was an 8 day (fully supported) ride across the Pyrenees from Biaritz to Collure which, amongst other things, changed my legs. I decided to keep at it when I got back so have been working hard all winter and I'm off on a similar adventure to the Alps in late August. I really enjoy long, hard, hilly, early morning rides most of all but I'm jumping in for my first park race a in a couple of weeks in my new Kissena kit, which I'm hoping to pick-up very soon! The picture is me just before Col du Tourmalet, 20 mins later we hit the climb and it wiped the silly grin off my face and I didn't manage another one until a couple of hours later on the descent! I joined Kissena a couple of months ago and have been showing up for the morning training rides whenever I can. I'm looking forward to getting more involved and meeting more of you.

Anyway, I want to capture, the essence, of that idea. Can we upload pictures of ourselves into our profile or even have it pop up as a thumbnail next to our name on the entries?

Unfortunately this particular version of the forum software won't let you upload a photo, but each forum member can associate an avatar icon with their account if it already exists somewhere on the Internet. (Click my username to see a profile with one as an example.)

* first, upload a photo of yourself somewhere (gravatar.com is a good place to start, or add one to your google profile if you use gmail)
* To set up your icon pic in the forum:
* click the "Account" tab at the top of the forum
* click the "Personal Information" link in the left-hand navigation bar
* paste the complete URI of your photo in the "Icon" field.
* click the "Save" button.

Note that the image will be centered and cropped to 32x32 pixels. Hope this helps.

I have been using a logo designed for a poetry reading series I did some 15 yrs ago by a rather well known underground cartoonist for a round of whiskey. It was meant to be a glyph I would get tattooed, but I could never find the right artists of placement. I mention this not to brag about my poetry or connections with illustrators, nor how vampires would besiege me to lead a new house and end their centuries old war, but as another proof of whiskey's power.
