whos excited for the KCC world hill climb championships this Saturday?!
I am!  I am!

But I won't be riding it.  Don't even think I should ride there. (hint)
I'm excited for you all as i cant make it either, headed down south for a week's vacay. Have fun everyone!
I'll be there and I'll promise to not make any excuses about not being very fit
Won't be able to make it :( will be on the road for Thanksgiving.
I am planning to be there! Hoping it won't be raining... I'll be in for a ride out, hill climb, then back vs longer group ride this weekend.
I'm in for the ride out and hill climb. Afterwards I may go a little bit further north to Nyack or Piermont to add some extra volume, gonna be a gametime decision.

Meet at GWB at 9 and we'll head over?
I would like to join, but still dealing with some knee issues, going to be a game time decision for me
Definitely come out!  Half the fun is heckling others.
and we usually have coffee and donuts so worst case scenario, you get to hang with friends and eat some snacks
It's been a busy few weeks at work and home, but I'm psyched to see you all there! Still deciding which bike I'm going to race on. I'm very tempted to do it on the brompton this year, though if I can dig out and install brakes on the track bike...

I'll bring the donuts and coffee, you bring the legs and heckling, see you tomorrow!

BROMPTON! Give me a shot….
@David Yang

As per British hillclimbing rules, you only need a front brake.
not going to make it unfortunately.  Not so much the racing, but worried about the pain even getting out to the GWB :anguished:

Some good race faces there!
As they say, ya gotta be in it to win it. Players today included former club champs (JP, 2021 and Greg, 2023), former PP KOM series winner (Pat), local strongman (Bret), and Mr. Round Foods (Yang). The turnout was low, but the competition was off the charts. The conditions were bright and sunny as the gladiators rolled into the parking lot, but as if the the sky suddenly realized the gravity of the situation and the frightening chaos about to erupt, it set the mood by becoming overcast, blanketing the Alpine boat basin arena with a with a heavy steely gray tone. The chilling wind cut through our kit, yet we couldn't feel the cold with the ice flowing through our veins and the fire in our bellies. Convivial conversations gave way to squinting side-eyes and teeth baring snarled upper lip curls, an imminent shootout between grizzled drifters and cowboys and crooked sheriffs in an old spaghetti western.

And on cue, like the town fool, Yang gulped down a donut whole and hid inside a barrel.

Bottles and saddle bags started shedding from bicycles. Heavy winter jackets were torn off dramatically like the chaotic start of a wrestling match. Grimaces and pain faces transformed the racers into grotesque living gargoyles. Small woodland creatures scurried away from our rampage. Off in the distance an eagle screamed into the void and wolves howled in scarred agreement while wild stallions galloped furiously through fields thick with poison and thorns.

Somewhere in the world at that moment a new life comes into existence. Happy. Rosy. Plump. A miracle.

But not in Alpine, NJ. Not today. Only the merciless fire and brimstone of hell on earth that is the Kissena hillclimb championship.

While it's a bit late for this year, @BretSigler managed to create our own Strava Segment for all to use in the future.  Kudos to him for working Strava to make this happen.
