Wait, are you making an appearance in Prospect @Matt Budofsky?!
@GregHoge I'll be there!
Reg closes today (Friday) at 10am.

Maybe rain? Maybe wind? As long as Tom puts on the race I'll be there.
same! I also followed up with Tom about volunteers' race registration so for those of you who are waiting, keep an eye on your emails!
Matt, you are actually in the running for a podium at the NJCX series. Maybe you can race twice in a (rainy) day!

My bad, I didn't look at schedule closely enough

Road race is Saturday. SCCX is Sunday.

I'll make a last minute choice Saturday and reg day of if racing.
Results?  Bros?
Race was canceled due to weather and debris.
And to think I was bummed that I missed it.
ALERT!! Since the race was rained out last weekend, the board took some inspiration from our tea loving neighbors across the pond and we'll be having our first inaugural Kissena Hill Climb Championship!

Details:

Where: We'll race up the perennial favorite Alpine climb on river road from the boat basin to the ranger station (we'll use everyone's time on this segment https://www.strava.com/segments/33288522 as our official time keeping)

WhenSaturday November 26th. We'll meet up in the basin at 9:30am

Who: Everyone! Doesn't matter if you've been racing cross, road, for state line sprints or not at all. Come test your legs and see if you've got what it takes to win! (We'll award club championships based on categories like we would have if we had raced last Saturday)

What kind of bike can I bring?: Since this is all friendly interclub fun, feel free to bring whatever bike you want, but let's keep it safe. A good rule of thumb is if you feel comfortable showing up to a group ride or park race with it, it's good for this! One hard rule we won't budge on is that your bike needs to have 2 functioning brakes.

We'll also have donuts and coffee in the basin, so even if you don't want to throw your hat in the ring for the hill climb, come hang out, cheer and have some snacks!
I'm bringing my Snorelax Halloween costume and the single cowbell I have to heckle all ya'll. Anyone have a devil costume with a fake pitchfork? I'm also hoping to bring some poster boards and markers so we can write ridiculous signs.
Bring the bike Dave...

I will appropriate my sons chalk collection.
Can I also bring my self from 2014?
Can I also bring my self from 2014?
If I can have my 2012 legs you can bring whatever you want. Gardiner is still going to make us all weep. Where is Tito these days?

So, are we going to have holders and timers and marks on the road?

Expecting to be there for the race.  Anyone joining?
I've got posters and markers - think of motivational things to write ;)  I believe Matt is bringing the coffee and doughnuts.
Photos and reports to come.

(Crazy thanks to David and Matt for putting this together, was so fun to hang out, the leaderboard makes me wish I gave it a go)

others got better group photos, please post

This was a lot of fun, thank you! Climbing remains a major weakness for me... OOOFFF on that time.
Thanks again to everyone that came out!! Couldn't ask for a better morning or bikes, friends, doughnuts and coffee (okay, we could absolutely ask for better coffee than Dunkin)!
Looks like a grand day out!
Looks awesome. I notice that JP’s long sleeve jersey has the Kissena name upside down?! A detail to fix in the future
What are those orange jerseys?

yes.  On both sides.

Trying to figure out how they thought it was a good idea.  Riding with my hands behind me?
@Mark Taylor those are the 2021 club champions jerseys. We were a bit slow on getting them to JP and Michael...

Is it like those ceremonial jerseys where Eddy crams it on you backwards while you're exhausted from racing and standing on the podium?
Almost a year late but @Matt Budofsky finally got his trophy!!!

This too can be yours for 2023 - 2024 for the next KCCChampionshipChallenge! (I’m unofficially dubbing it the KCCCC24)

Are we doing the championship again this year? I'm still mad I missed it.
Yup.  Not sure when though.
