The Kissena Club Road Championships will take place on Saturday, Sept 17, in Prospect Park.

Please note this is not the "Catch Kissena" format. This will be a separate race for Kissena Members only. The Club Championship race is open only to Kissena Cat 1-4 riders. Kissena Cat 5 members can race in the separate Cat 5 race.

There is no pre-reg for the Club Championship race. You can register at the race.

Surely, there is a club champion jersey that the winner can wear year long? If not, we need one, bad.

No joke.
There actually is one. It looks pretty similar to the regular jersey with "club champion" on the back under Kissena. Jan Micko is the reigning club champion.
This is awesome! I have a feeling it won't come down to a sprint ...

Is the Catch Kissena race not happening this year?
No Catch Kissena this year.

Charlie actually scheduled this format for last year at Prospect Park, but a tornado canceled it. When it was rescheduled @ FBF, it went back to the catch Kissena format.

Hopefully we'll have a large turnout.
Champion's jersey. Awesome!

It should be identical to the World Champion jersey though, but instead of the rainbow stripes, navy, orange and white. Who wouldn't want that?!
No Catch Kissena?
An outrage I say!
The current jersey wearer is Jan
JP won it the year before
Me the year before that (first Catch Kissena win for us)
Lenny before that if I recall.
This should be an exciting format, I have to say, I've raced with many of you this year, and have seen every one of you sacrifice yourself for team glory at one point. This is your opportunity to go for personal glory and race like a selfish a$$. I think it will be exciting to see us all go at each other as savagely as we have taken on every other team on the block this year.

I for one expect to suffer in this race, and intend to offer no quarter. Good luck to you all and I look forward to seeing you all there.
Blood. Will. Run!!"
come straight off the plane from interbike at night and race at the crack of dawn? i'm down. my excuse for getting dropped is already in.
Will there be a prize for the lantern Rouge?

If so, put my name on it.

It will be mine.

....but, wait a minute, will I need to finish to win it?
reminder email from Charlie.

Cat Vs - 14 of 50 spots are registered for right now. Keep on eye on the confirmed riders list if you have not registered yet.

may the shit talk begin!
feces
How does this race usually shake out?
Imagining a kind of 10 lap hold-the-JP-wheel-athon.
Dunno, I've only ever done the catch Kissena format, we'll see whether it will be an attackfest or we end up doing a collective trackstand waiting for somebody to make the first move.
JP won't be there. And a lot depends on who shows. I expect that despite my best efforts I will end up on the wrong side of a split with William, Perlberg, Malcomson, Woj and Ragot up the road.
i'm going to trackstand you dorks into the dust . . . alternately, into the joggers lane
My plan was to either attack from the gun and keep on attacking until everyone cries uncle or drag the field around for ten to twelve laps before winding it up and burning everyone off. Alas, I can't do either this year, as I'll be on the wrong side of the country. Bums me out.
JP- I'll gladly take your place!
the custom is to have at least one lap where we ride together and donn't drop people
ok so attack on the second lap?

or we can wait til the 3rd lap to really fool everyone.
Will our 2010 Champjan be defending his title?
Maybe Wojciech has to just do an ever-increasing tempo at the front.

Been so long since we didn't have Catch Kissena, I didn't remember the protocol. I think the last time we did a mass-start non-handicap was in 2003 or 2004.
I am *SO* bitter to be missing this. I wanted to show up with a sleeveless jersey and a Conan-style necklace fashioned from the jawbones of every roadkill rodent I've collected in the park this year... for POWER
Which lap do we drink the champagne?
Go feral Jules, dream catcher of Kissena!
Megalols, John

Traditionally, we each have a flute on the 3rd and on the 6th lap, then everyone in the break has another wih 1 to go

Also, there's the "mystery lap" flute

It's a mystery
So long as the Victor screams "GYMKATAAAAA!"
Will we need to set up a leadout for the flute laps like the primes?
