Left late but still managed to run into the thursday crew crushing muffins in piermont. Helped a cycling reenactor in Renault/Elf jersey figure out how to put his crank back on at state line. He joined our group and tried to drop us, but our combined efforts reeled him in. I guess he wanted us to fix his bike again.

really good times today: keith, al, vollbach and chabanov paced tito up to his internship in nyack, then did bradley together. i had the pleasure of following dan's attack on the steep part of the climb . . . that was an enjoyable 30 seconds . . . NOT! (see what i did there)

today marked the first iced coffee of the season. a toast to the sun god!

nice running into John (Gianni), although i didn't have much nice to say about his choice of running 19mm tires on a SystemSix . . . that's a taint crusher right there

Warning!!! The po-po's are handing out tickets at the Insipid, err, Intrepid crosswalk for running the light there. Well, that is unless you're jaywalking, rollerblading, jogging, or driving. Just don't do it on a bike.

In their defense, it's a congested are with tons of tourists and you do see rude cyclists doing dumb stuff there all the time. Pedestrians too.

Heading out tomorrow and thursday... weather channel says 70 and partly sunny. Wheee! Probably go long but not super hard.

I can get up to the NY side of the bridge by 9:40. My ideal is to go steady hard for three hours or so with some hard hills thrown in.

I can do that. Any idea if the south side is closed?

awesome ride today in the rain

it started as a date between my college pal/former elite euro racer Peter Horn, then Al wanted to join, then Al ran into Quinn Keough of the Exergy pro team and invited him.

really fun day.

we jammed up 9w in the rain, did ash/tweed, down clausland then back up bradley/tweed

al beat quinn in the stateline sprint, but quinn blew us all away HARD in the Hudson Terrace southbound sprint, coming from behind so fast he caught the draft of a passing car.

strangely, neither of these fancy cyclists kept up with us on the climbs, but i'm sure they were just saving themselves for marriage.

quinn keough is much cooler than chabanov.

harumpff....just got back myself from a "9W" ride.

I'll look for Owens and JP tomorrow around 9:40.

Good ride with JP today. Left around 10-ish and did an inland Jersey route. After 10 years, I had hoped that possibly I'd actually learn one of these routes, but true to form, JP threw in a few random twists and turns to keep things interesting. As many of you already know, his recently punctured lung hasn't really slowed him down too much. I sat on his wheel almost exclusively for 98% of the ride and by the end, my legs were tired enough that they were cramping and I couldn't keep up anymore. Close enough to the end of the ride though, and he dialed it back for me.

We hit some short steepies in Upper Saddle River. Good training day for this coming weekend.

I really need to come out for one of these rides soon. They sound like fun.

The inland route is cool. JP even took us to an insane asylum once. We didn't spend the night.

Tomorrow 8am at NY side of GWB. Piermont, Ash, Tweed, etc. and back. Hollar.
