Yep, that's the crazy idea. BB at 5am.
You got it, E -- i'll stay behind at RR. Up before the fishermen! see you there!
Damn, just gave away my lights for a friend's ride this weekend. Would be good to ride with you! Oh well, 'tis the season of dark-to-dark rides!
I have an extra tail light, if you're still up for it?

We had a great ride today, It was just Erika and I crossing BB two hours before sunrise -  I was half awake meeting up but riding with Erika will wake you up quick. Typically when this ride is done in the a.m. the sun is rising by the time you get over the GWB - but since it was so early we had at least another hour of dark at GWB. Looking back, there was a hilarious moment when we arrived at the RR entrance gate - all we could see is black. Neither one of us wanted to say, “lets turn around...”, so we preceded to inch out further and hoped to see a glimmer of light, even a reflection off the road would’ve been enough -- but, it actually got more black. That’s when we both said, 9W! Good thing -We kept a strong  and steady pace all up to Alpine, then split off after a quick snack at the station. Erika headed back down RR and i stayed behind hoping for multiple repeats, but after x2 my legs were reminding me to rest up and go home. Awesome. A pleasure riding with you E!

lesson of the day: no street lights on RR.

Joel is too kind. First he agrees to meet me at the Brooklyn Bridge two hours before dawn on a rather chilly morning, then hammers to GWB while generously providing me a wheel when I start sucking wind in Harlem, and then he takes the lead on our tentative exploration of pitch black River Road. Had there been an axe murderer awaiting us in the shadows, I'm sure Joel would have saved the day. So, yeah. No street lights on RR.

I spent a little (too much) time warming up in the station before taking RR back to the GWB. Second lesson of the day: descending get really, really cold! I didn't see Joel on my way down, so don't buy his modesty. Those 2 climbs he did must have been fast!

Great morning, and great riding with you Joel!
Great ride reports, and good to know about the lighting situation of RR.
And we're moving into that season where heated public bathrooms (and drafting off warm city buses) is a cyclist's fleeting joy. . .
Thinking about going to orchards tomorrow. Just steady hard not crazy.
JP?
Jeff,
Sorry gotta stay close to home Tuesday.  Wednesday, I have some time.  But I like the overall idea.
Skipped out on today and got stuff done, but tomorrow will have to be an abbreviated vortex of doom ride; I gotta be back by 1pm.
That's in Brooklyn by 1pm?

Meet me at my place at 9:30.
Shit.  Gotta write up a new lab report.  Lemme see how much I get done in the next hour and I'll get back.  Might have to skip...

Alright this is gonna take a while.  Have to wait for bridge until weekend.
I think @jessica and I are going to ride up tomorrow. but I am still recovering, so its gotta stay recreational. anyone else want to check out fall foliage and get a donut??
If anyone knows anyone who lost a bike part yesterday while driving on River Rd., it is with the Palisades Police at the top of Alpine climb.

edit: I'm not sure if River Rd. is the one that runs through Palisades Park. I'm referring to that road.

@annamaria I might be able to join you. what time and where / route are you doing? hopefully you mean tomorrow and I'm not responding to an old post.

Is JP alive for tomorrow?
sure am.  Planning on getting out the door at 9:30am in Harlem.
Ok.  I'll let you know in the AM if I can make it. Only got 3 hours of sleep last night so might fall into a coma
Ungh.  Feel like a slug.  Gonna do lab reports instead. YAY.  Have fun, looks like it's gonna be nice!
Probably head out tomorrow mid morning for a stroll.

Heading out to river road and some piermont exploring late tomorrow morning if anyone cares to join. Aiming for bb at 11am.
Ehhh. Guess I should have checked the weather last night, ha. Already tons of snow on the ground. Looks like its trainer time.
But think how epically Rapha your ride would look if a photographer were following and snapping pictures of you...

Oscar and I rode to school today.  And he absolutely epic'd his shit way past Rapha, doing it all in an ensemble that, including helmet, cost less than a Rapha baselayer.

and he earned the disbelief of his first-grade classmates and teachers.  (and a classmate of his chided me, to boot)

"Instagram or it didn't happen".  Rapha knows this is all too important for the key 15-25yo demographic.  Your tale of epic commuting glory means nothing (nothing) without sweet vignetted Instagram pics.

LUCKILY for you I'm a total photoshop EXPERT so you can get in with the cool internet kids about your epically epic ride this epic morning!

if you really want to step it up, we can go slush around this on our Bromptons!

Aaron Blum - I may get a km or two on Citibike tomorrow for a token addition to my festive 500 total, otherwise its fam all day. Sorry dude.
Heading out tomorrow for a medium tempo ride. 70-80 miles.  Looks sunny!
