Ooooooorrrrrr, maybe not.  Ankle is pretty swollen from being on my feet for 14 hours yesterday.  I'm gonna have to ice it and go slow today.  Not sure it could withstand a deep space exploration ride.

Thur aug 22nd. 9am brooklyn bridge 10am gwb. Chug a lug ride with Owens to Bradley and water tower.

Don't confuse chug a lug with slow. With a little momentum or a downhill our chubby selves can get moving, so consider it a drop ride because we need to be back at specific times.

JP and I out today. Mercifully, he took it easy on me, with a less hilly route and didn't ride me into the gutter (too much) on the flats. Double bonus, I got to see the place where the legend grew up and went to school. So much is so much clearer now...

It was nasty the first hour but once over the GW it was quite nice. I was wearing rapha Belgium jersey so I knew it would be epic. Rain riding when it's over 70 ain't so bad and kinda fun. Just gotta take it slow on metal grates and turns.

I kept getting leapfrogged over the Williamsburg by requisite fixie dreadlocked guy who would hammer past, blow up, then COMEBACK FOR ANOTHER ATTACK. He was so desperate for the W, that after I'd gotten away he came back on te downhill around the chicane and skidded, almost hitting the oncoming guy. I told him there were 4 races a week around NYC much of the year and he didnt need to ride like that.

He had headphones in so I'm sure he thought I was saying "damn good job you RAWK!"

sorry, didn't check this thread and already returned.  did alpine, i think?  i did that palisades road along the....palisades.  ended up at a boat dock with bathrooms that called itself alpine park.  then turned around.  then discovered an epic climb that i did not bring the gears for.  that hurt.  it just kept going and going and going...http://www.strava.com/activities/77674202

Oh yes, after doing 8 alpine repeats (that's smart, right?) I was treated to the family truckster driving on the west side bike path after dropping off the tykes at the Insipid carrier.  Whatever, it's got a double yellow line, man!

And you'd think that our fellow expert amateur bike racers would know not to cut the tower corners on the GW.  But here we are.
