River Road / Palisades / 9W rides WEEKDAY

how is 9:45 at the bridge?  Owens?

Zzzzzz.  Slept 10 hours.  Sinus infection still hanging around (almost 3 weeks I rule!).  Planning on long tomorrow with Clint Eastwood instead of FBF.  Orchards?

Great day out for riding. Well, it was chilly/windy, and I did get rained on a bit but...

JP and I started out, dropped down to River Road and dude was on fire. I was sucking wheel for about 2 hours up to Rockland Lake (minus the climbs where I was promptly dropped), and there was no let-up. Swirly cross winds mostly from the right. With JP's penchant for painting the white line and offering no quarter, ensured that I was working too.

As he turned right on 9W to head for home, I took advantage of a rare day with no daddy or work responsibilities and turned left. Headed to the Orchard, but turned right up Little Tor, or whatever they call that steep steady 10 minute-ish climb. Stop on the other side of the climb for a little refresh, then continued north on some top secret roads that Mattie showed a few of us a few years back. I added my own double top secret super long, super steep climbing, rolled through very Bear Mountain-like heavy rollers type terrain, peaked at the top of Buckbridge Mountain, screamed down a fast descent, dropped down to the Hudson river, finally enjoyed some tail wind as I whipped past hundreds of sailboats in dry-dock. Motored back on 9W, Nyack, Piermont, dirt roads, 9W home.

All in all, really great to be out. Thanks to JP for working me hard for those first 2 hours. I personally find it difficult to ride hard by myself, as I'm easily distracted by birds and flowers and shiny objects.

This ride ended up being about 7 hours bridge to bridge. Lucky to have been able to do it. Keeping my fingers crossed they need me at work tomorrow...Peter's swim classes ain't going to pay for themselves...
My firstly long ride today since the littlest guy arrived; I took Canadian Mike out for some final P2A tuneup & instruction (if hanging onto his wheel for dear, ever loving life can be considered "instruction") We left late, got hosed by the #southside construction and stopped only long enough for a banana and some bottle refill. We spotted a gaggle of birders with about $15k worth of telephoto gear o. river Road studying the two parent and three (!) baby bald eagles, JP with so e #frenemy riders and the thin wrench from ride b... Once home I promptly tried to stuff All.the.calories. Into my gut before heading out to music class... Now I'm lying here shelled like a commuter who just blew it all on a Williamsburg cat6 throw down. #outofshape Very excited to hear the race report from P2A... Looks like it's gonna be a rumble in the Northern Jungle there with a serious posy of UCI Elite MTN & Crossers.
Funny day for me.  Great to be Marc's motorpacer.  On River Road, people had some big cameras out to document the bald eagle.  We finished the ranger station, dropped down to Piermont road, and did the Kissena Sunday Traditional to Rockland Lake.  When I turned right on 9W, there was a wicked tailwind.  I was thinking I was going to do some Strava crushing.  And then the wind died.  Alas.

As I was heading in to Nyack, got a shout out from Tim Johnson; I berated him for coming to my 'hood without calling.

Climbed past Nyack college and over to Clausland Mtn.  On the descent, I passed a United guy and Mengoni's Everhard.  Like they were standing still.

They worked to catch me by the golf course.  We did a three-up time trial to Hudson terrace.  They'd hang back on the rises, where I'd set a moderately hard tempo, and then they'd jump me for the summit.  We'd get it back together, and Everhard would seriously back off before all the town lines to sprint for them.  Whatever.  I got in my hard miles and they got some rest.

Who closed the GWB bike path? I got no warning from the PA.  More dirty pool from Christie I suspect.
That's such a dick thing to do. If I'm getting towed around by JP like I was today, I'm not going to jump him to beat him to the summit of a climb. But JPs right, whatever, those dudes are going to find out that fake training leads to getting your ass kicked by a real team...namely us.
thinking of heading out from bk around 9 today to nyack i think, anyone else heading out?
Anypersonbody wanna ride their bicycle cycling bikes tomorrow since Saturday looks like rain? I was thinking 10@GWB.
I can make that (10a GWB), @jeff
I have a rare day off work tomorrow - with both kids in school all day.

Im coming from brooklyn so if anyone wants to meet at BB at 9a, give a holler.
I'll be in undercover rapha fred gear.
Hey. Just got here. Total jam in front of NYP and forgot about having to use north side. I'll wait until 10:20, then assume you took off.

Sorry but I gotta be back by 2.
Sorry I missed you this morning, jeff -- I waited for 15min, i must of just missed you by seconds.
shame, I got hasty too as I wanted to get back.
Making like a litter of babies and heading out tomorrow. Probably not too early since it's a 16hr day. Holla yo!
anyone happen to be going out for a ride in the next half hour? I'm near the gw so could do an easy hour out back by 1ish. I'm not that strong yet, so if slow is ok with you?  @McKay might be on the road already. 917-414-0454 if you think yo can coordinate. Daniella.
Wednesday 5/7/14.  Jersey Side 9:30am.

Want to go for about three hours, mostly big ring tempo, hitting lots of shorter steepish hills.  Thinking inland, over to Franklin Lakes, but flexible on route.
I'll be there unless my date tonight goes phenomenally well. Tomorrow's my birthday, so I assume I'm getting carbon wheels and a kask Bambino helmet and the $75 hi-vis pink rapha gloves from her. Honestly I'll probably end up leaving later like10 or 11. :-(
Tomorrow, anyone?  My legs are blocked from running last weekend, so I probably can't go more than 80.
Heads up

It's supposed to open at 6am.
I've been there earlier and found it open, but also been there later (maybe 6:15am) and found it closed. Just as a heads up. I went to a deli and got a cup of coffee, returned 10mins later and crossed. I'm out of town through this Sunday, but would love to join for some mid-week miles when I'm back. Next Thursday? Let's check back in.

Anyone interested in river road hill repeats around 3pm tomorrow?
Team,
If anyone is interested in joining me on the jersey side. My rides usually start at 5:30 or 6. I can meet u at GWB by 6 or 6:30. FYI, Tues-Thursday are usually hard training rides. Friday's are easy recovery with some sprints. LMK
