Winter is fast approaching here in Geneva, which means two things: it's the start of fondue season, and the track is open. I'll be back in NYC in April, and maybe things will work out so that I can finally grab a couple races with the guys. Riding in circles around this 166 meter track should help prepare me. But maybe I shouldn't overdo the fondue.

I know lots of you have spent time in the Loire Valley of France. Anyone know of a good shop to rent decent road bikes from in or around Tours? We will also be spending some time in Audierne in the North West corner. If anyone knows of a shop around there, that would be great too.

Not as exotic as the rest of the locations in this thread, but I'll be out in San Jose on business a few days next week and would love to log some miles in their beautiful 60º partially cloudy weather. Need to keep rides pretty short and sweet (75-90min), but having a hard time finding routes that aren't 99% city surface streets. Going to get some beautiful miles in over the weekend in more picuresque parts of NorCal, but any current/former Silicon Valley Kissenas out there know of some gems that loop through downtown SJ? Thanks!

I will be in the Bay Area 9th-12th. Am hoping to haul WDC to the east bay for a ride. Sorry to say that Silicon Valley is too far. Let me know if you want to venture north a little bit (e.g., Castro Valley). Otherwise, you have to try Sierra Rd (made famous by ToC) or Mt. Hamilton, which are only a short distance east of San Jose.

If you can drive to http://goo.gl/maps/CiWnC then you can ride up - hill. But you need to get out of San Jose. I don't know the riding to the East of San Jose.

Thanks all for the routes & recommendations! An over zealous co-worker scheduled us for a bunch of 7:30am "coffee chats" w/ our client, so my riding might now be limited to the hotel gym, but maaaaybe I can squeeze in one of these some afternoon! Also, thanks to "Hercules" my bike was left at JFK despite the fact my Friday morning flight actually took off pretty much on schedule. Just got it back last night. Maybe the universe is telling me to take it easy.

Looks like I'm going to be in Seattle in a couple of weeks. Anyone have any route recommendations, particularly things reachable from Fremont?

That's great! I'm jealous. I might have to plan a renegade Nor Cal training camp next February if I can't convince Ryan to head north. 

Higher likelihood I can do northern California next year. Brother in law in Sunnyvale and all.

If any of you find yourself coming to Geneva during autumn or winter and want to get in some riding, I suggest bringing a cross bike. I just discovered an extensive series of mostly rideable dirt/mud trails and lightly graveled paths through parkland near the Rhône river. You can ride for many kilometers and barely see a car. Stuff like this helps alleviate not being there with you guys, gearing up for race season.

John -- this is some funny shit.  i know the guy that owns that bike... he's an old friend from back home.  in fact, when i was in amsterdam back in september i stayed at his house and bombed around town on the yellow beast.

@Mark, that is hilarious, I remember we saw that bike in a very reseidential "path less travelled" section of Amsterdam — no too far from SPRMKT. It struck me as not local style (no fenders, brakes and lights). Riding that bike in Amsterdam would have been no joke, it's like a war zone — love it!

Around the Lakes of Killarney, through the valley and look, there's a gap! Spent April in Ireland dodging sheep, rain hitting the sprints for pints!

It's great to read about how well the team is doing in the races. I hope the success continues to roll on in. In lieu of racing out here, I managed to get in a good training ride last weekend. Went up and down a hill a couple times, and put in a few other kilometers on some regional roads. Looking at the attached picture, who can guess what this little bump is called?
