I wish! I climbed this mountain after almost 3 weeks off the bike traveling, so my time up was pathetic. But it's in one of the prettiest places to ride a bike. I highly recommend everyone to go there and ride a bike at least once in their life. Hint: it's not close to Geneva.

Yeah - Ventoux. If you haven't been there, all of you owe it to yourselves to visit. The entire region - Provence - is cycling heaven. Undulating roads through vineyards and hillside towns. Ventoux is a beast of a climb. I did two of the approaches two days in a row. Each was at least 20k in length, with most of the time spent grinding away between 8 and 9% gradients. Because it's an old volcano it stands above everything else, giving you amazing vistas of the surrounding countryside while you freeze your ass off up there. It's a memorable experience. For those connected to me via other social media, I'll try to post more shots in the near future.

Hey Guys and Gals,
I wanted to give you a heads up on a ride that's going on in August called Cycle Greater Yellowstone. Maybe some of you have heard of it. Proceeds benefit the Greater Yellowstone Coalition (environmental awareness) and it takes place from August 17 - 23. I'm planning on doing it and would love some company if any of y'all are interested.
Starts and ends in Jackson Hole Wyoming (fully supported) and covers about 500 miles and 20,000 ft of climbing.

I'm on vacation in Switzerland where I met up with Nathaniel Miller Wednesday to catch the nearby TDF stage. We parked ourselves about 500m from the KOM at the last climb of the day (finish was after the descent - Gallopin won) and ran into Didi on the way up.
I am pretty sure Nicholas Roche was checking out my Kissena jersey while he past me in his solo break. Nathaniel forgot his team jersey but had his old school Kissena hat. We didn't have a radio or internet access so were surprised to see Telansky climbing well behind the laughing group. 15 more seconds and I would have gotten a picture of Telansky with Didi jumping behind him.

dearest kissenas,
imagine if you were to design your ideal cycling region. i imagine it'd look similar to emilia-romagna.
everywhere you look it's rolling hills and largely unpopulated roads. it's not the alps or the dolomites, but you can easily find yourself multiple 3,000ft climbs in a single outing.
we're here (in bologna) for a few more weeks. i am like a kid who has been told every day will be christmas, until one day it won't be. basically i am trying to ride as much as i can, until i can't.
here are some pics of a recent ride to florence. as you can see i'm representin' kissena out here. the only team shorts i have with me though are thermal bibs. it gets mighty hot down there somedays.
in summary: it's ideal here. you should make a date to come stay. i have one pull-out bed that i'll rent in return for cuddles (and new bib shorts).

Jules - I was in the Loire not too long ago, staying just at the edge of Amboise. Some beautiful roads (and busy ones if you're not careful). There's a route that you can follow that is very nice between Amboise and I believe Chenonceau. It's marked by little green signs that you'll see along the way, pointing you in the right direction. Along the way you'll go through some forests outside of Amboise that I rode my cross bike through. There are a series of great trails, some smooth, some a bit rougher and muddier. You can spend hours in there, along with visiting all of the chateau's. And the connection with Leonardo DaVinci was surprising. You can visit where he lived and is buried.There's also a nice bike route along the Loire between Amboise and Tours that I did a portion of.

Hey, guys - your Kissena ambassador to Switzerland will be visiting NYC in early September, and if all things go well I hope to see some of you out there, for a big upstate ride or early morning Prospect Park training. I'll also be doing some cross posting to other discussions. So, keep an eye on the "Buy Sell Trade and Loan" thread as I try to empty my storage locker and the last remnants of 26 years in NYC.
Also, does anyone have experience with preloaded SIM cards in NYC and can make a recommendation?
