I have a size 51 CAADX either of you can borrow. I typically ride a 54 on a road bike, for reference.
@Phil Maronilla Amazing! Thank you!
A few bits of SupercrossCup news

Win a portable electric power washer! Volunteers will be entered into drawings for a WORX Hydroshot powerwasher. These portable washers are great for cleaning your bike and can use various water sources including a faucet, soda bottles or even a lake or stream. Check them out here: https://www.worx.com/20v-powershare-tools/20v-powershare-tools-20v-cordless-battery-tools/20v-hydroshot-portable-power-cleaner-wg625.html

Word is that the Cannondale and Kona teams will be at SupercrossCup. This means that we should see a great race among Hyde, White and Werner on the men’s side. Ruby West and Becca Fahringer will reprise their battle from last year. Others are sure to join the elite fields.

Myles and I were on course today clearing overgrowth from the course and concluded with a track walk. The course climbs will be a little more gradual than the last few years. It will include a new start and finish area and start loop that should increase race length by about 5 minutes (for those concerned that their races were “only” 30 min). Didn’t get to ride it given that the lawn needs mowing, but it should prove to be a fun and challenging course

Thanks so much for the recon @PatrickGrehan! How was the wooded section looking, pretty similar to last year?

Shudder. The memories of last year’s muddy wooded session brings back memories...

To answer the question seriously. Yes, the section in the back words will be pretty similar to last year. The ground is soft and more roots are visible in one section in particular probably due to racing in the mud last year. The section should be very manageable if the weather holds up.

Last year we had prepared a woods section near the start area/main parking lot. Since the weather lengthened the course times for us we never used it. This is a twisty woods section with the potential for a steep drop and steeper run up. Again, wheat gets used will depend somewhat on the weather. The current thinking is to keep the run up on reserve for Sunday

Anyone with a car who is heading to SupercrossCup, please put in your offers to give members a ride here.

I'll start:

I am heading up to the venue on Thursday and will be staying in my mother's place in Piermont each night and heading back to LI Sunday night.

I can give someone a ride up Thursday. I can also offer a place to stay (Piermont is 25 min from RCC) if someone wants to stay over

I'm headed up Saturday morning from Long Island to race the first race of the day, and then volunteer after. I got a place and I'm staying the night and on Sunday I'm officiating all day long. I'm then headed back to Long Island after the last race/dinner?
I could use a ride Saturday morning @AndrewJohnson - racing in first race of the day then volunteering after, too. Still on the fence on staying overnight, so will be looking into trains/cycling home (is that even practical??). Also racing first thing Sunday a.m. and volunteering afterward.
Also open to going in on a zipcar with other Brooklyn-based members.

I can see if I can change the room to two beds and share the space?

Myles and I went back up to RCC today. A lot of work has been done to prepare the course including a bunch of tweaks to improve on last week's course layout. The roots I mentioned last week are now gone (course change). Biggest takeaway is that while there is some sizable climbing, it is split up by recovery sections. So, you climb, recover, climb, recover and repeat...

Here is the map:

Let’s start organizing transportation to and from the race!

If you’ve got room post when you’re traveling. If you don’t have a car post what you need.

I am driving up early Friday and believe I am picking up Nathaniel. I am staying at my mother’s place in Piermont Friday and Saturday night. I think Anthony is staying over Saturday night. Others are welcome.

I will be staying through teardown Sunday night. I can drop someone off in the city, but it likely will have to be gwb subway station or close to parkway/expressway to Long Island
Let’s start organizing transportation to and from the race!

There's also a train 5mi from the race site that, with a connection in weehawken or Hoboken take you back into NYC.
I'm taking train up (and back) there Saturday morning. Then driving back up Sunday morning for the whole day until breakdown (and the raffle?).
Hi @jim_nelson - do you by chance have space for me if you're driving to set up the course on Friday?
Brian - yes though I plan on leaving very early to get out of the city before rush hour. Hope to hit the road by 5:30am. Where are you located?

Also, I need to leave RCC at about 3:00pm to make sure I get back to Brooklyn by 5:00 for an event at my daughter's school.
Makes sense - been speaking offline to @Mark Taylor and we may have a ride out to RCC set up. Though depending on how long Mark's planning on staying, I may opt to head back to the city with you at 3 pm.
Volunteering Sunday, put myself down for two time slots but if I can I will be there all day. Most likely will be able to drive people back down to NYC after on Sunday, my only stipulation is you must provide good company.
@jim_nelson - just wanted to let you know, I found an alternative -so the spot you have in your car can be used for another team member!
Saturday:
I can offer a ride from Brooklyn, leaving at 5:30am, returning to BK at around 1pm.
Racing 8am, and volunteering.

Sunday:
I need a ride from Brooklyn.
Racing 8am (can do the 9:45am race instead), and volunteering.
Brian - got it. See you there.

Like Brian noted, I can drive some folks up on Friday morning if needed.
@James Reeder can I meet you Saturday morning in Brooklyn? Or by me on upper west? Room for me and a bike?

@PatrickGrehan can I head back with you Sunday evening? I can take the train or ride from gwb dropoff.
@AnthonyOtt yes, I have room, I can meet you upper west

I singed up to volunteer Saturday from 11am to 6pm. I am headed up Saturday morning not yet sure what time, and staying the night. I can give a ride up on Saturday and a ride home on Sunday. On Sunday I have to stay until the end of the last race since I'm officiating.

Also on Saturday night, those staying up there are there any plans to get food or something in the area? Or we just go our own separate ways?
I'm racing the 40+ Saturday.  Then probably heading back
Sunday, I'm planning on racing the club championships and 50+ and staying for most of the afternoon.

Currently have a ZipCar reserved for 8-2 Saturday and 6-6 Sunday.

For Saturday, I'm taking up Marco Quezada, the photographer.   Room for one more.  Or can cancel the car if someone's got room for me and Marco.  The car is at Broadway and 124th.

For Sunday, can cancel and hop in a car, or pick someone up.  The car is at 135th and St. Nicholas.
There are places to eat near the thruway. In the past, we have eaten at the diner on airmont road for dinner. While we can order from the food trucks during the day, I guarantee we will be hungry Saturday night
Hot tip:

if you have ski pants, they will be nice and toasty while you volunteer. If not, I have found wearing my bike tights under jeans to be pretty comfortable in cold weather
I am still debating what time to get there on Saturday. I don't go on shift until 11, but I was contemplating getting there for the first bunch of races and getting some photos... hm...

I might even bring my heated socks. I started wearing them last year for winter riding as my toes seem to be getting more and more sensitive to the cold. Even with wool socks, winter riding boots, and the chemical toe warmers. I found the heated socks the only thing that kept the pain at bay in my toes in the winter.
Many Kissena members who volunteer are likely to be handed a walkie talkie and asked to coordinate non-club volunteers. We will not give you more than you can handle.

The following link is the Captain's Guide. Please take a moment to read it. Not only does it include information on how to setup (and teardown) the course, but it also includes descriptions of the various responsibilities, podium schedule and what to do if someone gets hurt, etc.

If this is your first time volunteering, don't let the guide overwhelm you, but get the gist so have an idea of how things (are supposed to) run. I will have copies on site

HotHands hand warmer. We should have a box on site.
