The reg page is UP: https://www.bikereg.com/Net/17443

Reg will open Monday at 7:45am .

Anyone racing both the club cx championship and another race Sunday will get some cash back in an envelope, prospect park style.

Tell your friends. Bring your kids, parents, neighbors, EVERYONE.  Kids races on both days. Pro races right after lunch - so come early or stay late and have fun.

More info to come in the coming days\weeks.
Reg now opens 1 week later (Mon Oct 1, 7:45am) , sorry for the change.  We are holding it to work out some scheduling issues.
Attention creative and or snarky types!  I just got a call asking me for flyers for Supercross that will be printed asap and handed out at Gloucester.

If anyone has anything snappy to say that could go on a race flyer and help draw people to our race's website, please reply here or shoot me a note at jcaesar.bike@gmail.com tonight, it would be greatly appreciated.

Flyers+Gloucester - Marc Bertucco better love this post.
Love it Joshua. What are the highlights of the race? What UCI category level events, prize list? Who's doing the handing out?
Alan is handing them out when folks sign in.
Alan rocks! So cool.

I signed up for 8:30 Masters 3/4 Saturday then KCCC and 8:30 Masters 3/4 Sunday.
Hey thinking about SuperCross and volunteer duties for 2012, my wife kindly pointed out that since I've got ahem, new responsibilities during the week, during the day, I won't be able to help with Friday course set-up. I forget exactly how many dudes we had last year, but I DO remember that we were about 2 guys and 2 hours short of getting the course set up before nightfall.

Is there a volunteer coordinator to assign jobs this year? My guess is that I'll have to be a crossing marshal on race day or dude who wanders with extra tape fixing course explosions.

Or...if Myles is looking to save some money, I have sports announcing experience from my Chicago days, and I could work the PA system during the Elite races.
We have a new announcer who is working for a good deal - but you could certainly do some guest hot listing announcements. It would be pretty interesting.

Marc,

John Bulmer got some good photos of you.

Thanks, I do look less fat in black-n-white from the chest up!

hey gang - would anyone want to write a tech guide for Supercross ?

This landed on my plate and needs to be done quickly, unfortunately between work and other stuff I am doing for Supercross I don't think it can be done fast enough.

What does it entail?
1) your being awesome
2) Myles or I forwarding you a pre-existing Tech Guide (from another race) and a bunch of info about our race
3) You creating a document in a similar format (or even taking the existing doc and just updating with all of our info)

It would be totally awesome if someone could pick this up.

Email me: jcaesar.bike@gmail.com

Joshua,

With unpredictable baby, not sure exactly when I could do this, but could probably promise the thing in a couple of days. Maybe get to it late tonight or sometime tomorrow. Right now, I've got to jump on the trainer during baby's nap #1.

Hey gang. I am starting a new thread vs putting this in the Supercross thread, because this is a big deal. Supercross is next weekend, and we need host housing. A request goes out every year and we get one or two offers, but this year it will mean so much more.

What is host housing?
Host housing is when you provide space in your home for one or more visiting racers. It does not have to be fancy. Spare bedrooms are great, but so are couches, or even floor space (people can bring air matresses).

Wait, what is Supercross?
The SUPERCROSS CUP is a two day cyclocross racing event that Kissena hosts annually. It will be in East Meadow NY (Nassau county) at Eisenhower park. It has racers from entry level (Cat 4) up to UCI Elite Pros. This is the 10th year of the race.

Ok, so why is host housing important this year?  Can't people just stay in hotels ?
Well....its important every year - but more so this year. Due to Hurricane Sandy, hotel space is tough to find right now.
Emergency response crews are here, and FEMA has bumped many of our hotel reservations.
Providing host housing allows us to bring additional racers in, who either can't afford travel costs + hotel fees - or in this years case, flat out cannot find a hotel room!

Additional racers == additional awesome. Each year Supercross donates its proceeds to one or more area charities.
This year all proceeds will be going to Sandy relief - so the more folks that come in, the more we help the region recover.

When would folks stay over?
Friday night, Nov 16th and or Saturday night, Nov 17th

Are they cool?
Yes, anyone that will stay over with you is 110% totally cool, and they will bake you brownies if you ask nicely (true story).

Ok, you got me, how do I help?
Email me at jcaesar.bike@gmail.com

While I have your attention - if you have not already signed up, do so! The races are a lot of fun.
We are having a special race this year as well, the 1st annual Kissena Cycling Club CycloCross Championships (the KCC-CCC), on Sunday morning.

A post will go up soon looking for volunteers as well. Each year members help in all aspects of the race, from setup on Friday, to various jobs at the races, to tear down Sunday.  More details will be posted in that thread.

Like us on Facebook, watch the forum, and see you at the races.

Hey all...the club championship pre-reg looks a little thin. Only 14 guys so far. Anyone else in for that intramural fun?

I will register.

What is really thin is Saturday 35+

umm, are they any registrants for the Msters on Sunday 35+ 1/2/3 on Sunday? I only see one on Saturday.

I presume the intent is to get the cat 1/2 masters racing the Elites, but then they need a UCI license and that ain't cheap.

Any opinions?

It will forever be a mystery to me why we don't get the numbers so many of the other cross races do...
I'm thinking its that people don't want to drive through the city.
Race is off. FEMA took over the park to house volunteers.
I thought you were joking until I read Josh and Myles' posts on FB.
