I've often thought it would be cool if there were some way to see daily, weekly and monthly leaderboards for popular segments.
Ahoy Joaquin --something more elegant would be excellent, but --in the meantime-- you can filter the segment Date column on daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly view of the leaders.
@Joachin --and thanks for mentioning this... Lo! I just found out I have the fastest [August 2013] time up one of my favorite sinister climbs...

OK - so Jules told me I couldbulk uploaded my 2013 strava data. I did. this shit is fun. To date I'd only had 4-5 rides on there, now I'm hooked.

check it out:

follow up question - is there a convenient way for me to see segments I'm ranked top 10 or 20 on? I'd like to know which segments to try to improve on.

I don't think so.  It's definitely a "work in progress"
Question of etiquette: is it ok to go Segment Sniping in a storm with a 20 mph tailwind?
I currently own the fastest north to south ride in Central Park and I got it in a race.  If that passes muster, I don't see how yours fails.

BTW, in the dark ages, there used to be a race around Martha's Vineyard.  I think it was two laps of the island.  Really fast and lots of fun.
Heh, I just figured out that I'm 7th / 1519 on Alpine (the CRCA TT segment).

I did it in April, I didn't know until I got an email that someone flagged it!

This is the one thing that drives me nuts on Strava. I can't believe they don't have that function. I'd use it way more if they did.

I mean, I'm not a developer so maybe I don't know what I'm saying. But given what seems to be standard user experience on sites like these, it does seem odd they don't offer that.

Oh, and also the whole "Wow - you're kind of a big deal!" thing you get when someone follows you. That drives me nuts too.

I thought I'd put a ticket in for this already but just in case I send another one.  Show me:

My Top 10's
My Top N's
Where I'm within X% of the KOM

JP, this is no way of saying good morning to me.  first email i saw.  even if i had the fitness, its location deep within the wormhole will keep it safely yours. chapeau!

^ It's like, you're just sitting there sipping your morning cup of coffee and JP just comes right along and slaps you through the internet.
I actually know a guy who, if given the choice of any superpower, would choose the remote slap.
How uncool is strava? I just tried to upload to Strava from Golden Cheets with no success.
Turns out they have turned into money hungry turds:

John you can always export Golden Cheetah files into a number of formats though, right?
Yeah, but read the article, Strava are behaving like total a-holes. Strava turning into Microsoft of sports — minus 300 Browny points.
My workflow for downloading & working with power:

1) connect device to computer, start parallels
2) open browser, import data directly into Strava
3) use Training Peaks Device Agent to import into Training Peaks this is the only way I know to capture time-series temperature data
4) periodically move the "dot fit" files from my Garmin to a folder on my computer to make room on device.
(Looks like I have ~140 files from 2013 fwiw)

Your mileage may vary.

If you want your data, store the files on your own machines. Trusting any service company is madness. However, being stripped of all your ride "data" might be a blessing... then you can just get on your bike and ride.
new PR: 191 mph.  http://www.strava.com/activities/87393109#1809450695   ...weird thing is it only took 495 W?

strava is always right!
there's something magical about this "Main Street Climb" segment.  i thought i'd never beat my 191 mph record.  but today i did!  222 mph.  thanks strava!  http://www.strava.com/activities/93007138
Check out the cycling Heatmaps.  Pretty nifty.

Quick reminder; there is a Kissena Cycling Club on Strava, which is now "invitation only" meaning you need to apply - we had quite a few (several dozen?!?) random people in there claiming to be Kissenas.

Check out how your riding is stacking up vs your teammates.

@Appruzzese, time to take a fucking rest week already!

Monday, 6/16/2014.
Checking last week's Team numbers, I wanted to give a shout-out to Meredith kicking some serious boo-teh on climbing last week.  Well done.
And to all the others who had a good riding week, and Erika, the Jeffs, Ryan, you guys are no strangers to this leader board.

Hey, I'm up there!  Nice job, buddy.

Holy crap, did Meredith strap her Garmin to a bird?  That's a lot of climbing.
Going way back to revive this thread.

I never subscribed to Strava Premium however I'm sure many of you noticed that Strava separated its premium offerings into three different "Summit" categories. What I think is nice is the ability to subscribe a la cart and only pay for what you'll use. I sprung for the analytics package ($24/yr). I'm really more curious than anything and the price is low enough for me to give it a shot.

Out of curiosity, do those of you who used the old Premium get grandfathered on the same plan or do you get put on a package of the three new Summit categories? Have you found full premium to be worth the money for how you use it?

If you were premium, you are now "Summit" and have access to all three packages.

--- Strava marketing, btw, did an awful job at explaining this (which is why you are asking)

If I were to get just one package, the analytics one would be the one to get. That said, strava analytics are kinda fun, and great looking, and I enjoy them, but forget it, they don't hold their own next to what Training Peaks and others (like wko) can provide.

In other words, if you have a training peaks premium account, then by all means, check out all that strava is, it is fun and cute and maybe useful. If you don't have Training Peaks premium, get it. Your money will be much better spent there.
