I rode up to garrison this morning/afternoon to helP my cousin cook a wedding. The big hill before bear mt bridge was so so hot . . . First time this season that I've been concerned for my well being. I can't imagine racing in this shit. Big ups.

Oof, that sucks.  Well, join the club.  My Achilles is basically in the same inflamed condition it was a month ago.  Let's retire and take up fishing.

Achilles will take a long time. Take a few weeks off.

I managed to extend a knee tendon injury from April through cross season a few years ago because I refused to take time off. Anti inflammatories are not a substitute for time off.

Yeah, okay...as "Linda Richmond" on SNL's Coffee Talk sketch used to say, "No big woop." Puhlease, someone in Brooklyn be sure to give him a dope slap when he comes home.

Today, 8th. I am pretty pissed. Why, you ask? Well, the race is simple. Don't get dropped on climbs. I didn't. Got over the first climb in the lead group of, unbelievably, 4. We went on for 10 more miles and had a gap of 75 seconds on the next group. It wasn't a high pace but the field wasn't getting closer. Should have had my wheels in the car behind. Car wasn't there. Got puncture. Waited 3 minutes for wheel car. Was passed by two small groups from my race. Could only overtake 3 from my field before then end. Where was the wheel car, which we were informed would be behind THE LEAD GOUP? Race official had given it to the cat 5 45+ field as he thought they had lost their car. That's why it was 3 minutes away. Was then left with no group to work with. My escape companions went on to take 1st, 2nd and 4th eventually.

@ Adam: Balls.  That truly sucks.

Bummer about the lack of wheel support. Well raced matey!

Looks like I endured almost 20 minutes with an average of 104 degrees with 70-90% humidity going up the kitchen before I shut down.

I don't feel so bad about it now.

These always make good reading.  Particularly enjoy the 'public urination' and 'having a car in the caravan' infractions.  He he.  That's just the way these guys roll!

@Jules, form&rig looks mighty good in iTT images though, given that there are 5images of you and 4images of Peter; could your 'good form' be slowing you down? Truly sorry about the brutal temp/humid conditions(as if, the course was not tough enough...i think they started stage 2 way too late in day for a summer race)! &Jules, just for future ref., what gearing did you have for stage2, compact crank&11-28T?

@Peter, congrats of on a) finishes & b) good showing... very tough race&lonely w/o teammates.
@Adam, you are looking like podium material...just need SKY(GB) support rather than BMC(CH) for wheel support.
