Soon to be trashed and replaced with specialized

"Fifty kilometres to the east in Breda, however, a meeting did take place between Jumbo-Visma and Specialized, Soudal Quick-Step’s bike sponsor. Het Laatste Nieuws also reports"

Or an Amazon warehouse.  I could see Wout delivering packages to get some training in.  With how fast Prime is it would make for some good VO2 max work.

Kind of funny how the sponsor could do more for the team , than the team can do for the sponsor
I would love to see big brands (ala Coca Cola, Amazon, Google, Toyota, etc) make their way back to cycling.
but also will Wout be racing a Crux?
When it comes to sponsorship money, I would be surprised if Cervelo can match Specialized's muscle.

I don't think you should be.  Pon, a conglomerate, owns Cervelo.  And they're huge.  They own something like 15 bike brands, including Cannondale.  With their takeover of Dorel (owner of Cannondale, GT, Scwhinn, Mongoos and others) in 2021, they became the biggest bike maker in the world.

What Specialized has is the desire to equip the worlds most noticeable road racers.  If they did win the battle to equip this not-yet-team, they'd probably have to drop their sponsorship of TotalEnergies and Bora-Hansgrohe.  When Sagan moved to TotalEnergies, I assumed he was taking the Specialized sponsorship with him.  But as his career tanked, I started to be surprised Specialized wasn't cutting TE loose.  With Sagan moving to Specialized MTB, they might be cutting TE loose anyway.
I thought I saw somewhere that both TE and Specialized both acknowledged that they were parting ways at the end of the season

Wouldn't it be funny if none of this speculation panned out?

That's what I'm leaning toward right now.

Primoz leaving has a lot of logic to me, because he wants to try to win the Tour. The merger though…

THis must be a 'before L'Eroica' shot.

BP CEO, after announcing net-zero targets, called the decision to exit petrochemicals “another deliberate step in building a BP that can compete and succeed through the energy transition”.  INEOS’ CEO, by contrast, called the deal “a logical development of our existing petrochemicals business”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyj9Pk_IgRc
