I'm a pretty big Simon Gerrans fan. I like the way he rides, I like the way he wins, I like the way he loses.

This hurts my heart.

:'(
Of course Cyclocosm put it better: "He seems to have DNF'd the podium."

It was very good and will likely be on ESPN sometime soon.
Fun fact(s): Hinault didn't like Paris-Roubaix and called it "a race for dickheads"... but won it anyway.

This is an old chestnut, but I still love it.vlad said:It was very good and will likely be on ESPN sometime soon.Fun fact(s): Hinault didn't like Paris-Roubaix and called it "a race for dickheads"... but won it anyway.
Never met Hinault, not that I converse in French, but, the guy was inimitable. Besides winning Roubaix and walking off with a metaphoric middle finger in the air, besides blowing apart races only to drop out, his ghostwritten autobiography, Memories of the Peloton, was full of moments like this. He'd rant about somebody or something and then intimate that if conditions had been a bit different, he would have decked the guy. Hilarious.
Slaying the Badger was one of the best cycling reads I've come across in many a year. Hinault, basically comes across as a good guy and great team leader. Even LeMond seems to really like him still.

This and the Hinault-Lemond showdown.
Flemish? They could be talking about the scenery for all I know.

Harry Z from 9W is at it again... he's submitting the film to the bike film festival but there will be a "preview" on May 5th at the Rapha club. Might finally have to gin up the courage to show...

Over-engineering at it's worst. Locks don't have to be picked, just cut.

The crash at Athens. How can these moto guys not have radios?
Apr 28, 2014 at 03:23 PM
The officials at Athens blew it. Sometimes bike racing seems so stupid.
At Dairylands last year, I saw a guy fly over the bars and get knocked unconscious. Within a few seconds, the Marshall at the corner assessed the situation, radioed to the chief ref/organizer/whoever, and the announcer was saying that the race was stopped. Not neutralized but stopped. I was impressed.
