I think the other thing that really struck me, was how Lemond was and is still treated/viewed by Hinault and the DS. Namely, to every complaint the French pair would screw up their most condescending face, shrug their shoulders and say some variation of "Oh, that Lemond, he's just over-reacting, he needs to HTFU." And it would drive Lemond NUTS.

I sympathize with Lemond...the dismissive attitude of his teammate and coach...IS maddening. It's a conversation-ender. It's a "your opinion isn't valid, so I'm not going to even bother trying to explain/discuss."
