Sweet new whip
Perfect for cross...

Very cool competition, it surprises me when these guys don't understand the evolution of bicycle engineering and why you just don't do certain things — like taking triangles out of a frame is just plain stupid. In this day and age we should be designing frames that last 200 years.
Right, but maybe that's more of a material thing than it is a sketchbook one. Like self repairing carbon a la self-healing cement.

Really, for realz?

I heard somewhere, that no matter the distance, they do the same TT warm-up. None of the conventional, the shorter the race, the longer the warm-up, thinking.

It was a long TT, 54km. The winner did it in 1:06.  The slowest 1:18.

As it's an effort beyond an hour, anyone going for a good time is probably going to ride at 98% of threshold or somewhere near that.  so htey don't need that much burn.  They need to roll off the ramp, survive the turns and settle into a rhythm that's a few percent below killer.

We also don't know if the team puts in a road ride ahead of time or not, if they reconoiter the course early or put in an hour before hitting the trainer.

It also could be that they weren't collectively aftar an award. Sky didn't have anyone who had a reason to go for it, unless it was some kind of personal pleasure.

And if you look at the results, you'll see that only one rider on the team did put in a big effort. Their first rider was Danny Pate 3:01 down, good for 11th place.  Pate, a former world champion at the U-23 TT perhaps saw this as a stage he was targeting. Their next rider was  Geraint Thomas was in 34th 5:01 down.

Looks like it's standard Sky:

My coach suggested it might also be due to the fact they'd been racing for 20 days straight...

I should have phrased my comment more emphatically. I saw an interview with a Sky team staffer. He said they always do the same warm-up regardless of TT length.
Yeah. Definitely seems to fly in the face of just about everything
Ape mode (aka going bananas)

So the Clif bar dude with the beard and long hair is a BEAST. Watched him race a bunch at ToAD. Beast don't give a shit about position, he'll get where he wants to be when he wants to be and not a second earlier.

(although he did struggle on the supremely challenging Schlitz Park course.)

As if you dudes need another reason to get excited about Granogue, here's a highlight video to remind yourself why you're training:

I'm pretty stoked; we'll be returning with another six month old boy...
#tradition
Jules, how about another KCC double CX podium? We've both got front row starts...only ourselves (and our coaches) to blame if we can't do it. Peter and Sarah won't be joining me this weekend, so I'm hoping you can loan me your boy for the family man podium shot.
I can loan you all three if you get on the step!

Crazy course!
Yes course very slick , wheel change far from it
Savory raced that and got dropped half a lap in.

The great thing to see was NZ sticking it to the Aussi's — 5 to go they go to the front and set a pace that decimated the remainder of the lead group. 12 OF THE 139 starters finished.

Just Saying: UCI riders with suspicion level 6/10: Linus Gerdemann, Christian Knees, Egoi Martinez, Francesco Reda, Alessandro Petacchi, Mauro Santambrogio, Geraint Thomas
