i went with stokes's suggestion of desitin.

applied to taint.  feeling cool.  though i may ride tomorrow's race entirely out of the saddle.
if you wind up with hurty (infected) bumps rather than open sores, this stuff actually works at getting the gnarly junk to come to a head

Owens....

Saddle us scuffed. As is rear derailleur.
Pic. So it happened. On our way to the hospital.
Ass pic.
Ha, I'm inadvertently giving you the finger in that pic. Oh wait until you see the leg. Up and over the whole car. They kept going. Faith in humanity shaken. Sorry I missed reg, Charlie!

And of course, thanks to Ragot. My personal ambulance service. Faith in humanity restored. I'm sure you missed him in the race. My bad!

I got nothing on Vlad. Sailing through the air for 25 ft or so, I was oddly calm. Just kinda like, "really? This is how it ends? Lame." I had always hoped for explosions and a damsel in distress or something.

But lucky to be alive! Kiss your kids before a ride, duders.
HOLY WTFUUUUUUUUU!
Glad you're alive and kicking Owens. Well maybe not too much kicking — that ankle looks like a 300 pound fat lady's!

(Oh, and WWF nudge).
Ha thanks. Yeah, so much for getting back in shape this summer. Look out 2014?
Damn it Jeff. This sucks. Feel better buddy.
Owens!  Ouch!  If they find the driver, I've got a shark I can recommend.  She loves beating on bad drivers.

Good luck on finding the driver.  When I got flipped up by a cab trying to "make the light" a few years ago, the woman screaming as I was getting hit was a cop.  And there was a second police witness.  I doubt the guy got a ticket.  At least he didn't try to make a run.

Mark, re: taint pain.  That's why chamois time ain't training time.  You don't want to grow matzo balls down there.  I'm with Owens on DZ nuts and Stokes on Desitiin.  Zabriskie, before he was known as a doper, was known as a guy who had a sensitive undercarriage who was always on the lookout for the perfect salve.

Ditto on both the "wtf" and well wishes for Owens and DZ Nuts reccomendation. I swear by the stuff.

Jeff!  We got the news from Ragot early this morning.  That makes me so mad.

Heal up, bud - we need you back!
Owens - get well soon.  I hope they find the f'ers in a ditch somewhere.
@Jeff Heal up. Sorry.
Bummer dude. I've got some extra cover sponges, ace bandages, saline solution, etc... you can have.
heal up, dude.
That's awful, sorry to hear it.  That's a crappy way to start the morning.  Heal up.
nice boxers, heal well jeff, sorry to find that out this morning after the race, sad stuff really. also sorry to hear that the driver did not even have the decency to stop.
This is the worst excuse I ever heard for missing registration. Worse than forgetting to set your alarm, worse than shreding your tire on road furniture, worse than getting stood up by the PATH train. Don't ever do it again!
In the meantime, get busy healing.

This makes me sick. Owens: I'm glad you're (mostly) ok. My stomach sank when I read this and saw the pics. Hopefully justice prevales. Rest up and heal, dude.
Thanks guys.  It's mostly just depressing.  Broken scapula should heal fairly quickly, and everything else is just swollen and tendon damage to inner right hip and ankle/calf.

FDNY were saying there's probably cameras everywhere, and I mentioned to the cop that the guy had been idling at the green light we had at Clinton and Greene, and that maybe there might be cameras trained on the intersection.

Cop could not have given a fuck less about even pretending to care to check.  I bet even if I had been killed, their reaction would've been the same.

Firefighters kept calling for the ambulance.  I was on scene at least 20 minutes.  No wah-mbulance.  Nice.

I'm the Haussler of NYC racing.  Or least the unknown stuntman (sorry, early 80's reference from old guy).

People are the worst. I hope you damaged the guy's car, at least.

Any chance there was a camera around?
Can we just send a posse up to the intersection to look for cameras?
At a minimum their contents should be subpoena-able?
I just do not understand how anyone can have such disregard for another human being.

I know Gandhi wouldn't approve of this, but I genuinely hope that person dies (or perhaps just suffers worse injuries than Owens').

I think Joe scanned the area.  Not sure about the intersection I mentioned.  Not sure if saw much from the street.

Thanks again.
Google StreetView shows no cameras for any of the intersections within a block of Clinton and Greene.

Assuming this is the right intersection

(At last, my Geoguessr skills come in handy.)
Given the time us riders are on the road in order to get to park races and the proximity of that to the time that bars and clubs close in the city. I'd wager the driver didn't want to stop and submit to a urine test.

Yeah totally. I did hear the engine rev prior to hitting me, but I think they were just drunkenly accelerating. It crossed my mind they did it on purpose, but then they wouldn't have stopped farther down the block (unless they were just checking the status of their prey). I'm sure they were 3x the legal limit.

I had a knog boomer blinky light on. Those things are annoyingly bright! Time to upgrade to the knog blinders.

I can recall a half-dozen or so times in my life where I thought "this is it."  But it's weird at the time how dreamlike it almost seems.  Maybe some sort of survival instinct thing so you don't panic.... I dunno.  Even now it's almost like it didn't really happen.

Ok maybe that's just the percocets kicking in.
@Jeff Owens..Percosets ARE kicking in if you can see this.
