Although technically it's true that we are a club and not a team. There is a distinction. It just doesn't mean what some of these delusional douches think it does.
Hey Cat IV's....create your own sound affects for the slo mo crash sequence...this is as bad as it gets...that guy just horse collared that poor, unsuspecting schmo next to him...

Never trust a guy with white hubs....
What in the actual fu........uuudge?
Triangle cyclist? He couldn't just fall on his own??
Dude stretched out like he was trying to take out as many guys as possible. WTF x 100000?
Looks like he rubs Vladi's wheel and loses it

Today I overheard Evan Murphy saying to Dan Chananov "Kissena got it right - they just kept sending guys. Kept it fast, kept it safe." Most of the teams and riders who are actually elite like and respect us.
This was my impression, to be honest...so when I heard Rovner make that quip, I was sort of dumbfounded and the best I could muster was a "Don't go there" response. I know, weak-sauce. I did think about saying something smart-assy as I swooped by him on a turn while he was struggling.

I think what it boils down to is that for folks who don't understand racing, it's easy for them to look at our big club and because we don't have just a group of just 10 or so dudes, they assume this means we're not a real team. I've said this before, and I've been on a lot of teams, from collegiate and local clubs to traveling elite squads, and I'm proud to be part of Kissena.
It was definitely Josh? He's usually really really nice. Almost to the point where it's kind of weird.

Yeah definitely him...but we've all said jack-ass things now and again, and I'm confident in who we are as a team, so I'm going to let it go/ignore those kinds of comments. He does overall seem like a nice guy in other brief interactions ive had with him. And, He did admit that he was here at Toad to learn how to race crits, so there is that bit of perspective on his part. At least he didn't think he was going to come here and be sprinting for the win.

L&C this coming weekend. Brief synopsis on current Cat 4 status:

PatG still in the dots. Maintains his 3 point advantage over Shoy.

Brendan - 1 point down on Pena who is in 2nd in overall but wearing the yellow because Moocarme has upgraded. 10 points down on Moocarme with 3 races to go.  Currently in 2nd in Green jersey competition, down 8 points. Pena is leading and wearing yellow, so Rigby should wear green for this coming weekend.

I'm in.

I'm in also.

I'm in.....in MIAMI that is !  Have fun lads.
Glad to see David and Thierry back this week. I would love to see a larger Kissena cat4 turnout this week so we can get Brendan into yellow and extend my lead. Both goals are attainable if we have enough firepower.

From watching the video of the finish, it seems to me that guys are way too fresh going into the new finish. Which is ironic, because most laps of Cat 1/2/3 races we're all kind of gassed by the top of that climb and tend to shoot through the lefty sweeper pretty orderly like, if for no other reason than we're single file from chasing someone trying to breakaway on the climb. Regardless, if you have two guys, one to start ramping it up and blowing up about 1/2 up the hill (just before the KOM point), then another guy to take over keeping it single file through the sweeper....seems to me, Brendan could work with that?
Wait for it... I'm in for Saturday (hopefully we have a marshall though).
Marc the finish of the 123 was pretty slow too. I think that as the field gets used to the course that will change. But there needs to be guys going absolutely ballistic leading up to the hill, and then again from the bottom.

It seems like it ought to be doable. It's usually pretty easy for a group going full gas to get a gap on the hill. On most laps that's usually not a great move because you have to go hard enough to get the gap that you blow up too much to go fast enough on the next section.

But on the bell lap, there is no next section!

I think once construction is complete, it might be worth considering having the alternate finish line every now and again anyway. If for no other reason than to mix it up and force people to race in slightly different ways.

I already wrote Charlie about this.  Just agreeing in this forum probably isn't enough.
Charlie also solicited feedback on FB about the new start / finish line. The feedback has been largely positive.

That was not my wheel. I was further ahead. ))
That video makes me want to practice wheel bumping... it's never happened to me yet and frankly I can't be sure I would react much better. Thought I sure hope that I would. :)
First of all, here's the call to arms: image

We can definitely get me into the yellow.   So long as a I place ahead of Edikson Pena of Montecci, I take the yellow (1 point difference) next race.  The problem is staying there.  The hard math is in the standings.  I have 22 points currently.  There are three races left with 12 points for 1st place (36 points available).

The major problem is going to be that guy Jesus.  I am going to have to be better tactically in order to beat him.  He is stronger than I am.  He sits in the wind a lot...then he still takes all the sprint jerseys and the win.  He beat me at the line on the first sprint last time (although he did dive right a bit and we collided so that's my excuse, what's yours?).  But I think I can at least hold his wheel for the next 3 races and that would keep me in the yellow.

I'll get a race report out at some point.  Highlight was elbowing Shoy into the wind for an exceedingly long time.  Also I tapped someone's back wheel and everyone around me starting shouting.  But I didn't do what that Triangle guy did!  What a fall.

Vlad That was my wheel. Great job out there guys. Pat nice job nailing Shoy on the hill. That was a fun race the new finish line is great as it gets rid of the weed wackers (eg, Carl Nelson) at the end. Bad positioning at the end for me. Need to move up before the construction spot. Yack you were spot on with your analysis. Have to be in the front 5-10 to have a chance. All I could do is watch as the sprint happened on the left on the slight downhill after the turn at the top. I was boxed in on the right.
Brendan and team we can totally grab that jersey!!!
That guy Jesus is riding with Triangle. Very mysterious carrier he has had  so far in the season. From zero to hero, taking all the races in the Cat 5 , moving into Cat 4, dominating all the races. I do not want to imply anything, but his progress so far was.... eee... impressive. He is a nice guy after all and takes a fare amiunt of pulling in the front. The only way to keep the jersey is if not beating him, but collect all the second places. But we can beat him if we will focus less on the KOM. Hard to try to kill all birds in the yeard.
Jesus is also dominating on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Floyd.

Cat 5 to cat 4 domination is far from unheard of. If you have some riding background and some strength / fitness, you can move through the ranks rather quickly.

Agreed, there always seems to be a couple of guys every year that rip through Cat 5 then 4 and into the upper categories.  Mike you were obviously one of them.  Baris and Matt Moocarme are examples from this year.  Charles Altchek was a monster last year.
I know Jesus; we ride out on Long Island together weekly.  He is a friend.  He is a warm, personable and friendly character.  I have watched him progress well this year from Winter through to now.  There is absolutely nothing "mysterious" about him or his success.  He was never a "zero".  Even in January he was strong enough to whoop the Cat4 field, now with 5 months solid training it is all but a certainty.

On the whole, people might want to be careful about insinuating things about others.  Especially when they are so new to all of this that they really don't know shit about what they are talking about.
