L&C Cup

Agree with @jp. I'd have to leave at 4:15 to make it to the race.
You should also expect the new start/finish to be in effect.
No way I'm coming out for that start time. I suspect Charlie had no choice but 6am is nuts.
God I wish I could do an L&C race at Floyd. I feel like I'd have a legitimate shot at placing, more so than in the park for sure. People who haven't raced there before and expect a park race dynamic might be in for a rude and quite windy awakening.

Alas, I'll be on SPEED TEAM duty that day.

Say hi to Floyd for me guys.

6am start?  Why not push it back to 6:30 to account for the extra riding time it takes to get out to Floyd?

I'm happy it's on.  But it's an ugly wake-up call.

#caffeinatedmorning
I love how JP thinks it only takes an extra 30 minutes to ride from GAP to FBF. You're delirious dude. That's a solid 40 minute ride at best. Or maybe I am...peanut gallery check in here. Settle the debate.
It's eight miles.

I bet I did it in less than 30 minutes this past tuesday.  In traffic.  Holding a few conversations.  when I recharge the garmin, I'll confirm.

#getinawarmup
Flatbush will be empty at that hour.
Yeah, it's an hour if you are fighting for your life with the murder wagons... But at 5:15am on a weekend? #zombieapocalypse
I've done it in 30 mins on Tuesdays with traffic from GAP. Of course that means riding through red lights and sometimes going against traffic. But yeah, that early, and its flat...no problem.

Okay, fine. I take it back. I trust Phillip.
Thanks Marc.. haha  Having said that.. I still don't know if I'll go because of the start time.
Note that there is 1 free lap and you can bring wheels.  If you're running your gossamer race tires, bring a second set of wheels!  Even if you're not, bring a second set.  A teammate who didn't might flat.
Also, bikereg says the start time is 7 AM not 6:00 AM.
Especially for you Brendan, bring extra tires. Ha!

That's a change. Clearly someone got the memo. PS set your Stravas...I want to see record times out to FBF from GAP.
Whole new ballgame. One field on the course at a time:

Rigby - you just got another 45mins of sleep.

@JP (aka Sleeping beauty) feel free to sleep in. 6am wake up, breakfast, read the paper, easy ride out to FBF.
Guys, do not ride your Schwalbe Ultremo's at Floyd. I race Conti 4-Seasons (I've flatted GP 4000's out there). The wheel pit helps, but puncture in the last three laps and you're poked.

Is the finish the new finish? Barring a ridiculous headwind, Floyd favors the guy who sprints first. With a good lead out from Yang, Brendan should crush this... just make sure you're top 3 coming into the 200m and first to go.

GAP > FBF 20 mins warmup for me.

It's got to be the new finish. On Tuesday, Charlie let us know that the Parks Department had requested that he move the finish due to the presence of rare nesting birds. Charlie informed us that the location would remain there throughout the remainder of the series.

Despite this, Wrongway's sprint advice holds true.
Vlad how far is the new finish coming out of the corner?
I'd guess around 5000 meters. Maybe 10 thousand.
No problemo I'll just dial it up to 400watts and let my massive guads do teh talking.
TrainingPeaks says just under 500m.
they need to add a KOW (King of the Wind) for this one
Agreed...if there is a nasty section of headwind...that is where u put the KOW
Attention Speed Team: TTT from GAP to FBF

Strava glory awaits!
The weather does not look to good at the time of the race according to Weather Underground.
More importantly, if it's raining (heavily) before the race, the course could be flooded.
4's, let's use one or both of the green jersey laps as practices for the finish sprint.  It's been a long time since I've raced Floyd.
Having the L&C cup at FBF is a a good opportunity for the cat 4 team. Given that the KOM will not be contested the team can focus on strengthening Brendan's yellow jersey lead.

A couple of recommendations (from afar):

1. Assign someone to act as road captain. Preferably someone who has raced FBF before. Road conditions are likely to change as the race unfolds.

2. While breakaways rarely stay away in cat 4 races in prospect park, breaks are much more likely to stick at Floyd if it is windy. Keep an eye on Edikson Pena. You don't want to let him get into a break without Brendan. Better still, help Brendan get in a break without Edikson.

3. Have a couple of guys shepard Brendan to the front for the green jersey sprints. The field will string out and split before the sprint and attacks are likely to occur afterwards. Again, if windy, the breaks can stick.

Have a great race boys. Looking forward to reading the race reports and to seeing you all at the last race of the series.
